Squirtle, to borrow a quote from Yahtzee here: "he kicks so much arse that he has to buy special shoe polish for anti-buttocks smell". But seriously, Squirtle was my man, and I've always picked the water type Pokemon in every game ever since, the exeption being Pokemon Yellow which cruelly deprieved me of choice.

Charmander was the first Pokemon I ever saw, from the anime. So Charmander was the first one I got.

Practically hard mode for the first time, but I love that lil guy <3 he was my best friend at 10 years old.

Charmander, I think...

But I was about four, and my parents had failed to explain that while my gameboy was borrowed, the game itself was not, so I might have randomly chosen one of the others so I could get an idea of the game without getting too attached...
Pretty sure it was Charmander, though.

Charmander was my first pokemon, because he was cool and a dragon dude. My love for fire pokemon only grew as charmander evolved and got even more and more overpowered.

I had to choose Chicorita, but I always liked Pidgey better and it was always the first one I caught in every game.

Charmander. Made the game that much more challenging at the start.

ha! everybody always picks charmander... it's just the best
And yet the first two gym leaders stomp mudholes in it's ass.
Yes, very true I always thought it was weird that Charmander was so popular considering he's only strong against one boss and weak against 3 others, moreover his fire types moves do barely anything to Blaine so you could argue that it's useless against half the games bosses.

Charmander...which ended up being the best choice, since even in 4th gen a good fire type is hard to come by

the first pokemon i ever caught in the wild was a pidgy and i took that thing to the max! my pigeot was stronger than my charmeleon by far. almost beat the elite four with it
Not only do I believe that we would get along extremely well because of our pokemon choices, but also because of your icon.

Well met, good fellow.

Well im everything but a pokefan, actually i dislike it like 99% of the other crap originating in the island of evil, but i tried the gameboy game and had some fun with it, i took bulbasaur, he seemed to be the coolest one.

My first Pokemon was a Squirtle, simply because I love water type Pokemon.

Not to mention he turns into a giant tortoise with cannons on its back.

God that was weird. Kept voting for Pikachu but it wouldn't register for some reason. I tried clicking Charmander and it accepted that vote... I think the ballot is fixed!

OT: My first was Pikachu as Yellow was the first game I got. Makes sense, no? I prefer Mankey NOW but didn't realize how amazing Low Kick was against Rock Pokemon back in the day. I was a kid and had no concept of anything that was going on. I was just happy to run around and zap things with Pikachu like in the TV show. :D

Haha same. I think I've got that floating around my house somewhere.
