Neither, really. Scars can be pretty ugly, and people tend to ask questions. Questions that I don't like to answer. Tatts are really just colourful scars, and while they look alright on some skinny/ buff 20 year old, you know they're gonna look like crap when they're 80 and their skin is like cheesecloth. If you had to have either, personally I'd go for a small tattoo somewhere inconspicuous where I can cover it if needed.

That depens on:

*Is it a GOOD tattoo, or a FAIL tattoo? Is the scar shapely or disfiguring? Or are we talking about Scarification?
*Where the tattoo or scar are placed & what size they are according to the placement.

Both have the potential to attract crazy women.

Dude, I saw the funniest tattoo a few days ago. This fat guy had a huge Madonna head tattooed on his back & his butt doubled as her cleavage.

Scars are not a choice though, bar scarification but thats a lil extreme for me. A scar may be really cool and in a good place, like that on Lock had in Lost under the eye looks cool. But tattoos are a choice, in some cases a very bad choice but whoever got them had the conviction to mark themselves for life. So I think tattoos are cooler because they represent a decison as opposed to scars that most likely represent a fuck up.

Scarification can be good, if done properly.

Only seen one person that actually pulled it off though.
Was a scar of a pentagram, with piercings ingrained in it.

Was damn awesome. And the girl that had it was smoking hot!
But then I like that kind of girls.

I think scars are cooler, but only when they have a good story to back them up. I have a scar that runs the length of my arm from armpit past the elbow. Got it falling into a ditch. Not such a great story I know, but it does spark conversation sometimes. And it's not hideous, I've actually had a few girls tell me it looked kinda cool XD

I'm not really into tattoos. Just not my thing i guess.

Tattoos will always have that slight vanity factor, which will never make them as cool as scars.

Scars are only as cool as the story that goes with them.

I agree with this, and I think some tattoos are cool. I've seen some amazing pieces, but I've seen more bad ones.

I'm surprised at how many people think tattoos are only as cool as their meaning, I agree having a meaning behind a tattoo is nice but I also think that some tattoos are wicked just from an artistic perspective.
