I don't do now and haven't taken any in years but I used to smoke about an ounce of skunk every week when I was younger. I also done a fair bit of speed in the early nineties during the rave scene and had ecstasy and lsd a few times then.
I never liked the E and lsd much so wasn't tempted back for more but I did love the canabis and I still would love to have a sneeky puff now but I gave it up nearly 10 years ago now.
All I have nowadays is the odd pint of beer and thats it.
I will say this though, Canabis is the safest drug around and has does not kill you and is surrounded in controversy, unlike alcohol which is the biggest addiction of the lot and kills the most but is legal and can be bought by just about anyone and is socially acceptable.
So which would you rather have?

I drink quite a bit, and have taken to smoking cigarettes every once in a while.

I am waiting till i get bit of cash before I start worrying about experimenting with other drugs. I don't care if i have to wait till I'm in my 50s or later. Not something I in a hurry for, but not something I am ruling out.

I've been hearing a lot about drugs and how they're amazing but I really don't get it. What do people find so fascinating about them?

No I've never tried drugs, I don't find them appealing...Or something worth trying.
Its a phenomenon called the vocal minority. Most people dont use, but those who do use make a lot of noise about it.

People do drugs to see what I see when I'm sober.

But seriously, drugs are about selfishness, because the make you feel good.
I do not do drugs because I like to think I'm better than that.
Great logic there.

It's selfish to feel good?

Wow! I better get the razor and some make-up.
Okay, point taken. Not everything people do to feel good is selfish, but how are drugs making anyone but yourself feeling good? I mean, seems pretty self-motivated to me. I don't know too many people who get high to make their friend feel good.
Are you implying that making yourself feel good is bad?

Is cooking up a nice meal and eating it bad because you're doing it for your own pleasure? Is wanking off bad because you're doing it for your own pleasure? Is playing videogames bad because you're doing it for self-motivated reasons?

And I can give a whole lot of those. There's nothing wrong in doing something solely for your own pleasure. It doesn't make you "selfish" to give yourself some "me-time". It's a good thing, because it means nobody is going to babysit you, and you aren't going to babysit anyone through their entire life.

And actually, most stoners are "social" type. Gather up with a few friends, cook up or buy some food for munchies, start up some bizarre movie and get high. That's what many people do.
So that's the group-based use of weed.

And I'm sure you don't need me to tell you about how alcohol has been the ultimate tool for bringing people together throughout the history. (In many ancient agriculture-based civilizations, having enough extra grain to create basic alcohol was one of the main reasons for people to actually stick around in large cities) In modern world, and pretty much for as long as I can imagine, alcohol was the group drug for most people.

[citation needed]

Why are drugs bad? Why are drugs disgusting? Why drugs aren't okay? And you do realize that drugs is a very broad term that includes socially accepted and legal substances like caffeine and alcohol, and various medical drugs without which much of our modern medicine would be shit. Painkillers, for example. If you think it would be a good idea to perform a serious operation on someone without putting them to sleep first (with a drug, I might add), you're completely wrong. It's not only unethical to subject someone to such pain of people cutting into their bodies and digging around there without anything to remove or weaken pain, it's very possible to kill or significantly damage someone through pain alone.

You, sir, are brainwashed.

Kids, look and learn. Whenever someone tells you "Don't do it", or "This is forbidden" and does not provide any empirical evidence for why it's forbidden or why you shouldn't do it, you should REALLY question their motives. Do not help support ignorance and blind faith in authority. Question everything. Educate yourself. If you aren't going to be critical of everything you hear, expect your head to be filled with shit.

The idea with drugs is that they remove some limits from your mind, allowing you to think in ways you never even knew existed.

Some of histories most creative people apparently "chemically enhanced" themselves just to get inspiration, to understand what they were missing.

That's not to say that you take a shot of heroin and you're Einstein, but, just trying a drug once to see if it unlocks anything in your mind... I couldn't see the harm.

Unless you're an addictive person, mind you.
Might want a buddy with you to keep things in check.

No, mainly because I'm too lazy and too poor from spending all my money on Bugles, can sodas, anime and video games.

Plus I took the D.A.R.E. pledge and I feel I should at least try to keep that one.

I only do prescribed drugs, nothing illegal so I checked no because you probably meant illegal drugs.

Never intend to do illegal drugs, even though I get a lot of peer pressure to do so.

Haven't done any drugs(unless you count caffeine) but do drink on occasion. Drink because I like the taste of what I drink, scotch mostly, and any beer helps to thin out my blood which is bonus.

Try it out?

You cant really dismiss anything out of hand before trying it!
You can too. I've never shot myself but I can generally dismiss that as a bad idea.
OT: Never done drugs, not even pot. Never been drunk. I've only drank alcohol a couple of times with my parents and I hated it, and my dad pisses me off when he's drunk so I don't think i'm going to get into that.

I do drugs. And by drugs I mean smoke weed. Occasionally do LSD and shrooms. Just because it's fun. Also, No , I don't think it's the only way to have fun. I've been sober for about 1 month now, with almost 0 cravings to do so. They just enhance your feelings. And for me, they're much more positive feelings. I get happy, care-free and see the brighter side of things. Something that an everyday normal person would love to be. It feels like you're at complete peace with everything (just my experiences personally).

I mean you should try drugs at least once. To experiment in life. And don't trust the bullshit the media gives you. drugs aren't that bad. I mean there are risks to them (minor and if not, highly unlikely), but EVERYTHING ON EARTH can be harmful to you in sufficient amounts.

Also, by drugs I mean just those 3 I mentioned. The hard stuff aren't drugs to me, they're Life-Ruiners. They turn you into asses, or desperate junkies. I only choose those three because they pose the least amount of threats. And I only buy them when I have left over money. I don't like spending money on stuff that goes away fast, so I don't buy drugs very often.

So yeah.

I'd also like to add, the people who do it and flaunt it, are jack asses and need a healthy dose of Shut the Fuck Up. I think of it as a personal thing and only do it with people I know and trust.

Marijuana once in a while, but I am in great physical shape and only do it scarcely in moderation. I don't do alcohol because I don't like the feeling of being drunk.

I have used alcohol and marijuana before. I'll never use drugs like cocaine or heroin.

Now, why are drugs fascinating? Depends what drugs we're talking about. The only substances I'm interested in are psychedelics/hallucinogens; like psilocybin and salvia. I don't plan on using any soon, but they look like they could be worthwhile experiences.

Honestly, I definitely prefer being sober. There's a whole world out there, I'm not gonna waste that.

EDIT:
TobintheGnome said:
Marijuana is about as innocuous a drug as can be found. Far less dangerous than alcohol. It makes one relaxed its only side effects are dry mouth, munchies and a mild case of the dumbs.

I recommend trying it at least once or twice.
Just wanted to put my two cents in about weed. From what I've seen most people tend only to have positive effects from it, but this is not always so...

The first time I got stoned (eaten), I was a paranoid, disoriented and mumbling mess for 6 hours. My heart beat was insane, I felt like I couldn't breathe and my body felt so light it was disturbing. I thought I was going to die.

Don't wanna be a buzz kill, but it's always bugged me how people say that marijuana has no negative effects. 'Cause that will probably always be the most terrifying day of my life.

That said, after a few months I gathered the courage and tried it again (smoked) and had an alright time.
First time I did it, I was freaking scared of seeing a eye-less ghost girl in the bathroom and got hysterical when I got close to the bathroom. Saw my friends dog and nearly shit my pants. Also, I got my friend high for the first time, and every time he heard a noise that wasn't from us, it was apparently the cops busting down my friends door.

I think the 1st time is only bad with some people because of the things they hear about it. Also yes, it should raise heart beat and make you feel light. So if you have a heart condition, you should stay away from it.

See, I think I can assess the pros and cons of--for example--hitting my tadsticles with a claw hammer, without, in fact, "trying it" first. I think I can analyze the data I have available and make a somewhat accurate prediction of how much I'd enjoy it. I don't think I need to leave the option of someday pummeling my own scrotum open, just in case I someday revisit that particular notion and find it more agreeable.

Not suggesting they're precisely equivalent, but the point stands. I don't do drugs myself, and while I wouldn't evangelize my non-drug position or anything, I think I can pretty safely predict that they're not for me and wipe the notion of doing them completely off of the table.
