But yeah, they seem to be the latest thing in league with vampires and ninjas.
Yeah sorry about the caps - I created this thread in a moment of frustration.
Gets the point across, mind.

So, anyone else thinks the new L4D2 is easier than L4D, but there are more idiot teams that need every single medpack just to get to the end of the demo?

Nah. The first 2 levels of No Mercy as easier than the L4D2 demo, at least for me.

Escapist Forums Rule #1, No matter how unrelated to zombies the subject matter may be, all threads, especially in Off-Topic Discussion, will eventually turn into to a discussion regarding Zombie Survival Plans.

Zombie survival plans are important so we're prepared for the worst case scenario, because seriously, zombies suck. I think a lot of people, myself included, just find that other people tend to suck and even though we're not overly aggressive people, burying a spadehead in their face would be a satisfying experience. I guess that pretext for survival is an excuse to unleash our inner caveman.

I think the idea of a zombie apocalypse or any apocalypse scenario appeals to us with the notion that we get to cast aside society's predetermined rules and methods and live by our own resourcefulness and strength.

Seriously, I promise you all that if I see one more zombie thread, I may explode - leaving brain matter all over the beautiful whitewashed walls of the Escapist.
Do you not see the irony?

We like zombies cos at some point in time we have had that urge to just act out that fight club scene were he pounds some guy into the floor then says "I wanted to destroy something beautiful" but since there humans we can't, even in games (see the "controversial" scene in CoD:MW2) but if the human is already dead then we feel like were helping them out if anything.

Just my take on it.

OT theres an article somewhere that basically says they would basically be the physical manifestation of all the annoying problems in life. and of course theres no bad consequences to kill them so it would satisfy most peoples bloodthirsty side.

I've loved werewolves ever since they kicked the vampires' ass in Underworld 3.
The movie wasn't great, but seeing a bunch of werewolves charge a stronghold full of armored vampires is awesome.

The Infected are different from zombies.
Zombies have to die to be turned, Infected can transform instantly.

Unless Stephanie Meyer does it again.

We have to kill her first...

Coming from the Dungeons and Dragons paradigm, zombies are excellent cannon fodder for the evil wizard or cleric intent on dominating the land through the use of the undead. They strike fear into the common folk, and are easy to raise in large numbers when amassing an undead army.

To be honest though, there really isn't anything outstanding about zombies in my opinion. Unless animated by an outside force like magic, they make little sense in a modern and realistic setting. The human body simply cannot continue to operate without food, water, and healty non-necrotic tissue.

"But these zombies aren't shambling corpses animated by magic, they're still alive, they're just RABID MUTANTS!!!!111one!"

That doesn't make sense either. Where did their bodies recieve the fuel required to undergo such dramatic mutations in the first place? What do they eat in the meantime that can sustain superior strength and reflexes, a disregard for pain and injury, and weeks of scarce food while sporting fatal wounds?

In my opinion, zombies have their place as low level baddies in a fantasy setting. While I like Left 4 Dead, I have to agree that zombies are overhyped, overused, and completly unrealistic.

Well, they are pretty good targets. In some cases slow, pretty dumb, attack in convinient hordes, fall apart easily. That's the reason i could think of in 30 seconds - there's definetly many more. But i, personally, am pretty iddifferent to the whole "OMG ZOMBOPOCALYPSE YAY!!!" idea. Would be good to let my inner Axe Crazy loose on zombies, but on the other hand, i'd have to actually survive... i think it evens out.

I'm more of an alien person, really. Much more diversity in all senses, and i like diversity.
