I used to visit 4chan rather frequently up until maybe a year ago, so I've seen some horrible stuff - including real child pornography on at least one occassion, several years ago (back when I still thought /b/ was funny). And I think that there's a huge difference between lolicon or shotacon or even "toddlercon" and real photographies or video recordings. I honestly doubt that a "real pedophile (or a hebephile, or a pederast, etc.) has much interest in abstract, unrealistic drawings or animations. Laws that equate stuff like illustrations with "the real thing" are absurd.

Honestly, people who have large collections of non-nude child model stuff concern me more. And child beauty pageants are creepy as hell.

No idea. I'm guessing that it probably has something to do with the taboo aspect of it. Some people might like it because it's taboo and forbidden, whereas others might grow up with a really good looking sister/mother, but society says "NO!" and frowns upon them even thinking about them in a sexual manner, so they have to repress it out of fear of the judgemental attitudes of others. Then when they see incest-themed manga/anime, all those repressed feelings come to the surface. Maybe something like that? I'm not into psychology and I don't like any of my relatives in that way so I can only make a stab in the dark.

Like I said, very, very rarely does it happen. It's all about taking a step back away from how I personally feel about the events unfolding and looking at it more as a series of unconnected images without a story behind them. It places me in a weird situation where half of me can look at it and like it, while the other half of me wants to set that half on fire.
