I was exposed to a lot of movies as a kid, where someone "loses their faith" in Santa, only to have it restored in the film's climax. I thought on it, and it occurred to me that Santa may not be real, and the movies are based on a normal part of growing up (and then tossing the whole "let go of childhood beliefs' thing over the side of the sleigh). I think I was 10 or 11, at the time.

6. Ruined by my brother, who was 9. He also found out that Santa wasn't real when he was 6. Such a shitty age for our family clan.

I was skeptical at age 6, when I came to the realization that Mum and dad never gave me Christmas presents.

I never really got to the point where I even got the chance to start believing in Santa - I caught my dad putting presents under the tree when I was 6.

I was 8, in a Garden Centre, my mum blurted it out by mistake. The problem was, we were just about to go into Santa's Grotto. I kicked him in the shins and tried to warn the other kids he was fake, and pulled his beard off.

I did not take it well.
Btw where do you live about?
Near Edinburgh, how?
Lol its just i live in edinburgh, go figure.

Kinda useless to put the spoiler warning after what you're spoiling, innit?

Anyway, when my brain's logic center became functional. Somewhere around age eight, methinks.

I found out on my own. Same way I found out about sex xD
Although for about 3 years I had no idea that it actually felt good, I figured it was just sticking your dick in and going for a piss. :p

Ahhh, then I should be more precise, I'm in South Queensferry, near the Forth Bridges. Makes it a bugger getting the bus into town when there's a dribble of snow. :D

I was one of those boring science-y kids who never believed in Santa. The stories never added up. That being said I always appreciated the tradition - I mean, hey, presents all around.

I was 12 I think. My mum told me and I wasn't the least bit disappointed, I was still getting presents and I no longer had to give away cookies.

Also, I'm pretty sure it's spelled "prezzies." >_>
It can be spelt both

And i was about 6-7. I woke up at about 7am and asked my mum if Santa had been. She panicked and told me to stay in bed whilst she checked. She opened the door of the landing cupboard (right outside my closed bedroom door), and i heard her dragging a large bag downstairs. Then, she came back up, opened the door and said "yeah he's been, you can go down now!" I was almost in stitches laughing at her. Bless her good heart =)

I didn't even know people believed he existed until I was around 12 and learned something about American culture.

I did believe in the guy your Santa Claus is based on though. Until I was about 9.
Umm, I'm pretty sure that Saint Nickolas did, in fact, exist...
He did. But your Santa Claus isn't directly based on him. Santa is a copy of Sinterklaas, who is based on Saint Nicholas.

Mom told me "Do you know who plays Santa Claus in our family? It's dad." My reply was something along the lines of: "Oh, okay."

I was either 6 or 7, can't quite remember. I also can't remember whether or not I made a big deal about it, although the whole 'can't remember' thing probably means that it wasn't a massive blow.
