when i was 9 i actually tried to capture santa and take all his stuff. i ended up catching my dad, he was hungry and ate some cookies i made that had sleeping pills in them. i wasnt all that shocked, Santa struck me as a bit of stalker/killer/pedophil
Read that really carefully... it reads as "I wasn't shocked that I caught my dad, I mean, I was SURE that Santa was a stalker/killer/pedophile anyways." We have some daddy issues here, hmmm?

Uh well I pretty much assumed that he didn't exist since I was like 8. But my mum told me when I was 10 I think.

He does exist, the story of Santa Claus existed for as long as it was created. There also have been stories of an actual Kris Kringle or Saint Nick who was born and raised in Germany.

The spirit of Santa Claus is real, and it lives on with the people who carry on the story. Hey, for all we know, all those Santa Clauses that are really giving smiles to all the little childrens faces, are just his helpers.
actually, Saint Nickolas (the real guy) was from Turkey, and lived during the 4th century. he was famous for secret gift-giving, such as putting coins in the shoes of those who left them out for him, and dropping pieces of gold down people's chimneys
Well thanks for correcting me.

OOooOOooOOooo...... don't forget about his 6 to 8 black men...

David Sedaris ruined Santa for me.

never believed as long as I can remember it was just my parents getting the presents first time first time I ever encountered a father christmass was when I was about 2 or 3 at some party I think.

all I did was pretend to believe to get the free presents that were being handed out even said so to one of my parents when they asked.

didnt care got me a free toy car ... a cheap not very good toy car but it was free.

I was 8. I started to get suspicious of the whole Santa thing but I played along. I got a copy of Jurassic Park for SNES under the tree from "Santa" and thought I would see if he was real. So I asked my dad if it was hard to find the game, and he said "Nah, they had plenty at Toys'R'Us". Busted. Since I pieced it together myself it wasn't sad but almost a triumphant moment because I had tricked my dad into telling me the truth.

Well, I kind of figured it out around age 10. However, I never technically stopped. My mom's policy is "if you don't believe, he doesn't come". Since I prefer to get more rather than less presents on Christmas, I never pressed the issue. Now it's kind of just an unspoken thing in my parent's house.

"Hey, don't look. Santa gave me your presents while I was out shopping."

*chuckles* "Alright, mom, I won't."

It's a lot of fun.

Some asshole kid in my class told me...
I was quite enjoying that lie, thank you very much. It made me spaz when those cookies I left out were magically gone.

I think I was around 9 or 10. I remember going around telling my classmates, feeling smart for figuring it out, and my teacher telling to stop being an arsehole and spoiling it for everyone else.

I don't know, 4th grade, 5th grade...Something like that. I kind of figured it out on my own, too. After the Tooth Fairy and the Easter Bunny, a pattern began to emerge.

I think I was probably 10 or 11. I couldn't sleep so I went downstairs and saw my parents putting the presents under the tree. I didn't really mind though, since I already had my suspicions.

Never really did... in fact, to this day my parents have never officially told me that he doesn't exist xD

I'm sure I believed at some point, but as far back as I can plainly remember (which was when I was about 7) I haven't.

You're both right. Santa Claus is a combination of a lot of folklore and legend. Including giving money to teenage girls so they didn't have to become prostitutes.

Saint Nicholas was a Catholic Bishop from Myra, Turkye. The European celebration of his birthday is far closer to the original man from the 4th century. Santaclause is the American commercialized copy of the character named Sinterklaas the dutch brought with them to "new-amsterdam". My dad told me this when they knew i knew it wasn't real.

I'll pretend to believe he doesn't exist when he stops giving me presents, but until that day my faith in free stuff is unshakable.
