The Shai'hulud, aka Sandworms, is what first springs to mind. After that, all the numerous quotes people spill from the 1984 movie (Which wasn't all that good in my opinion, but it had Jean-Luc Picard!).

For me, it's one of the movies, to be more exact, the 1984 version by David Lynch.
That heap of crap.

Why David Lynch was allowed to make anything after Eraserhead is something that I will never be able to understand.

The book, because I read it this year and it was fucking awesome. Now I need to find a copy of the second one and read that...

I think of Dune 2000 [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dune_2000], the first RTS I ever played.

Good times, good times.
Haha, man that was some horrid path finding. it was my second or third rts (first being total annihilation + Age of empires, i cant remember the order)

OP:I immediately think of those sand worms from the books/movie.

Always and forever the books. One of the most interesting sci-fi sagas written with quite nice study of both ecology and religious issues.

The David Lynch/Alan Smithee film (depending on how much time I have spare). I don't care if people say that the film sucks or looks dated, I love it. And I don't even really know why.

I voted 'something else'. I guess I should have voted for movie, but technically it is the mini-series on the Sci-fi channel years ago. My dad was really into the books, and didn't really like the film. He didn't seem that impressed with the mini-series adaptation either, but liked it better than the movie. I haven't read the books, someday I will, which is probably why I loved the mini-series.

I think "Frank Herbert" but that wasn't an option... of the given ones, "books" would have to be the closest :3. I liked them, but it stretched a bit far so I stopped reading halfway through the children of dune.
