Yes I read the book, but several years after the movie. Maybe that's the reason why I prefer the movie over the books. But nonetheless, i prefer differences between my books and movie adaptations, books and movies are two very different media.. and well.. if I'm lucky, I can enjoy two sides of the same story.

you didn't like the prequels i guess? why not?
I feel they tell they what happened thousands of years ago well and still them to the original books without sacrificing continuity.

my problem with the prequel books,i only read the house and butlerian jihad series, is they start pretty good but end terribly.

anyway when i think of dune i think of the frank herbert books and the 1994 pc game.

Well, I mostly think of the board game set in Frank Herbert's Dune universe.
Some of my friends recreated it (since it's not in production anymore) and we've been playing it.

However, since I can't, I voted for the books too. I've read two, and have heard that after that they kinda go downhill.

Yeah, I only remember there being one book, too. It also probably could've made a decent movie, but I don't remember anyone ever trying to adapt it. Probably for the best, since sci-fi stuff like that usually gets butchered.

No, there were actually (I want to say 3) sequels. They were all terrible, and are often shunned by anyone who enjoyed the first. Which is why I linked to that XKCD.

It isn't that difficult to make it yourself, just print the according images out, find some appropriately sized cardboard and you're in business.
And no, haven't actually ever visited that place.
