^my favorite so far.

My name just comes from nowhere special. Hunde Des Krieg translates from german to english as dog of war. The story goes that I like dogs and wolves and canines in general, so I wanted a Gamertag that reflected this. After a few pathetic tags, I watched "The Postman"(don't care what you think I like that movie) and the part when the antagonist recites the line from shakespeare, and I thought "Wow, Dog of War would be cool!". So I proceeded to try to use it as my new gamertag. But of course it was taken. So I thought, maybe I could translate it into another language. So I did, and wouldn't you know it, it was free. I use it on most sites and forums and stuff now.

Count Hasimir Fenring from the Dune books. I liked him, he was kind of a sneaky badass. Didn't like what Brian Herbert did to the character so much though. All his mysteriousness got taken away.

I needed a username to get on PerplexCity, which was an internet game based around elaborate and sometimes ridiculous puzzles. Thusly, I wanted my username to be a little bit of an elaborate and ridiculous puzzle. It was pretty much my first foray into the internet and I wanted a name that would be good.

Khedive means 'Prince' in Arabic and Rex means 'King' in Latin. In effect, my name is 'The King of Princes' which I thought was a funny way of saying 'A noob with a lot of potential.' However, to understand the name, other users would have be familiar with both Latin and Arabic. Khedive is also my middle name so I thought Khedive Rex was pretty good as a self-describing puzzle.

PerplexCity died eventually but the name stuck. I don't know, it's got a ring to it and I like how it looks.

By another translation, Khedive can also mean governor which makes the name 'King of Governors'. By that method, I find the opposition of a monarch and a duely elected offical humorous. As if there's a king no one knows about, ruling from underground and allowing the charade of democracy to continue above. Like the Illuminati or something.

I guess that's another reason I like Khedive Rex. It's meaning changes to suit my mood.

It was the name of a computer dungeon crawler I once had, I'm not really sure why I chose it as my screen name I guess it's because it was the best thing I could come up with at the time.

Mine is short for zombiecowboyz, which is/was my GameFAQs handle. Most people shorten it to zombiez so I figured I would save everyone the trouble. Zombiecowboyz originated from the sheer badassery of the idea.

Mine is basically a change of the game Super Mario 64, but with the lowly Goomba replacing the hero. Plus the idea of a super goomba that actually kicks arse appealed to me...and no, Goomboss (another name I sometimes use) does not count because he's just a larger goomba with a crown and mustache. Oh, and my favorite numbers are 9, 27, and 64, but 64 obviously fit better so, yeah.

Plus I just like Goombas.

Mine explains itself. When I played Halo 1 with friends I was ok, by the time Halo 2 rolled around I was killin noobs! And that's when I came up with 'SMOKEMNHALO' but that was taken, so i added the 2001 part.

You know the word generator that's part of a lot of account creation processes? It would spit out some random crap like "Ikxyballs" (and in weird, bendy font) or whatever and tell you to type what you see to make sure you're not a spam-bot? I was creating a new account for some place (I forgot what), and it generated "Syndef". It sounded alright at the time, so I kept it.

A book which I really like and Wompa which means:

"Cincinnati/Columbus vernacular; slang, adj. describing a person, place, thing, situation, event, or idea that is highly upsetting or unfavorable"

Which I liked.

My user names are generally things used to conceal my identity. notyouraveragejoe has nothing personal and neither does my other user name JohnSmithismyname. However with games I choose stuff that is important to me. Generally it is either Morality (since people should have morals), Veteran/Veteran_007 (because I think war vets deserve respect) or Ek...which was a typo. For about four years I went with Ek... but it was just a typo for my real name.

I made it up around 18 years ago when I first started using BBS' and playing MUDs.

Unfortunately other people started using the internet :p, and more and more often it is taken when I go to sign up for things.

I have another one I use when Hurion is taken, it was randomly generated in DAoC.
