I certainly wouldn't put Halo in the top 10 best single player experiences ever, but it would make my top 5 easily in multiplayer.

People always say "this won't end well" in a fanboy defence thread*, but it's just a thread. People will post angry messages in it. OH DEAR GOD NOT ANGRY MESSAGES. You'd have to have the rotten, thin skin of a zombie to get offended by any of it. So let's not worry.

Anyway, Halo was great fun for multiplayer in its time. And each sequel didn't render owning the original completely useless - I remember we'd go back to Halo 1 just for Blood Gulch vehicle matches sometimes (you know, before it became insanely easy to kill anyone driving anything), though that was during Halo 2's time, and I've yet to play Halo 3.

Now, I think the game's dated badly, but still offers a bunch of fun to any group of drunken geeks.

*I just had the best idea for a tower defence game ever. Think about it. The possibilities.

Halo threads never ever ever end well. Somebody's eventually going to say "Half Life is better!" and then someone will say "No it's not!" then the first person will go "Shutup, noob!" And therefore, flame war. TAKE COVER!!!

Isn't this image just the perfect opportunity for a sticky grenade? I can see the trophies now for THAT multikill.

Personally I don't like it, but is it good?
Hmm, it isn't exactly bad, so yeah, I suppose it is at least quite decent, seeing as it has such a huge fanbase.

I really don't like Halo. I mean, the first one was okay when Halo 1 came around and the story was good, but as Halo 2 and 3 came out and the game started to get less and less good story and more chimps with ball point pens on their fingers, it just started become more and more generic and bland.

It's better than most FPS's, but it's not particularly great. I'm a bit picky with FPS's, and while Halo is by no means the greatest game ever, it's different enough to be worthy a playthrough. It's one of the few games to keep me going, which is unusual for an FPS. But I still condemn it for not making much change in the series. And God, am I tired of these threads.

I love Halo. It's a well-done series and it's a lot of fun. While I'm not going to play Halo Wars (since I'm not really an RTS fan and Yahtzee says it sucks), the FPSes are fantastic.

The love for it got lost somewhere around the millionth thread about it...
This perfectly sums it up....though I still enjoy the games.
Yeah I enjoyed Halo 3 it was a good fun romp.

Too much backtracking and shitty signposting ruined it a bit for me though.

GEtting lost in the flood level was hellish!

First two were fairly good and a bit more serious. 3 however sweeps the awards for messing about, especially with the addition of skulls. Turn explosions up and catch on, pick up a brute shot and launch yourself into the fray.

I like halo. Its still fun to play and is a nice change of pace from cod 4 and WaW.
The thing i think its best for is just having a piss about with mates, especially with booze

While the single player isn't nearly as bad as many make it out to be, there's nothing special about it either.

I think the only redeeming aspect of Halo is how fun it can get with a party of friends and custom gametypes.

And what the hell does the 4th option mean??
Oh, that's for the occasional Crack Head that may stumble onto the thread.

It has a terrible community, but that's really only because it's so large. Aside from that, the campaign is a little on the short side, the difficulty needs adjusting(and I mean every level of it), well those are some negatives. But I do like the game, so here are some positives: The multplayer is really solid, it's not overcomplicated(it's simplicity is what makes it so fun), the game itself has many good features like forge, and the best of all:theater(I think every game should have a theater mode), the campaign may have been short and oddly easy or stupidly hard, but the story involved and the action of it all was very entertaining.

And with that, I say good luck with not getting your ass burnt off by the flames.

I loved halo until I tried playing online. Then I cut my ethernet cord so I could never hear such a large group of undereducated imbeciles ever again.

.... ahem.

Halo 1 was a time honoured masterpiece that would later be looked on as a masterpiece. It was the first true FPS I ever played and it wowed me, blew my mind and I only played for about five minutes. It was a blast to play alone, with friends whatever it was a truly great game and it charmed me to it with a hint of nostalgia so that I still get the goosebumps when I play it.
Halo 2 introduced me to the character 'the Arbiter' and again it was a blast to play. The mulitplayer in particular was great and it became a routine tradition between me and my friends to hang out at home and play the game competetivley just for the sake of a few laughs. It was fun.
Halo 3 was the most excitin event I think I recall in 2007, the anticipation, the thrills, the chills and all that. It was marred a bit by all the people bashing on it after, AFTER, Yahtzee's review of it, but that didn't matter because our combined anticipation for the game brought millions of people together and you know what? I knew it would just be a game so I hadn't hyped it up to be anything else.

In answer to your question, I love Halo and I certainly am not alone.
I call Halo like a see it, a descent FPS.

THE VREX HAS SPOKEN!!!

P.S The 'good' poll option just reached number 117... that's ironic.
