I just really love 6 & 7, both are too me, masterpiece games and two of my favorite RPGs ever.

FF9 for me.
Only FF I actually completed, because it didn't get too boring, it didn't get to a ridiculous boss I couldn't beat no matter how many tries, and it didn't have some sort of critical memory card failure (Damn you PS1 memory cards, my FF7 and FF8 saves were both on the 3rd disc when you failed me!).

FFX because it's the ONLY FF game that made me cry because you kill all your aeons and Jecht dies
OH, and because of the excessive amount of Random Battles.

Probably FFX or FFVIII for me. Blitzball and Triple Triad ftw.

Meh, I'll go and say FFX. I spent way too much time planning out my Sphere Grid path once I got level 4 keys, and I spent way too much time trying out customizing my weapons (or harvesting items to make the customizations). Never quite had the dedication to utterly max out my stats, but it was fun to play. Plus, Auron and Rikku have to be my favorite characters ever.
FFXII gets a special mention because I liked the battle system. I just wished I had about 6 more Gambit slots than was allowed.

Final fantasy 3 was the most innovative in terms of combat(first to allow the changing of jobs, for you silly westerners).
FF 7 was the biggest load of shit since Zelda on the Cd-i.
Not only was the game completely different from what was advertised and the 2 main characters were cross-dressing lesbian emo girls(Cloud and Sephiroth). The charm that the Final Fantasy series had in the 2D realm was completely fuckin' destroyed with shitty polygon graphics.

Oh, and don't give me that whole "FF7 had the greatest storyline of 'em all" bullshit,
if I wanted a story, I'd read a fuckin' book.

The first one was also one of the best games of all time.

oh, 8 without a second thought

i love 8, the story was amazing, the gameplay was awesome, it was challanging, but so much fun. the charecters where all, for lack of a better word, realish.

and you cant argue with the gunblade!

I love VIII. The others, not so much. They're good, but not VIII good.

I probably like it the most because it was the first one I played, but I also loved the modern/futuristic setting, the relatable characters (you know, except for the gunblades, whips, and nunchuks), and the plot and character development.

Alot of people say that Squall never gradually changed, he just switched at the end, but I disagree.

Final Fantasy XII.

The game is massive, and still compelled me to max the piss out of it. The voice acting is vastly improved over X as well.
The style is also drastically different from other Final Fantasy games, owing to the grittier visual style and the different music composer. The writing's better too, giving the whole thing a kind of Lord of the Rings feel.

FF7, for a number of reasons. Liked the story, liked the characters, liked the funny stuff and the magic system and how easy it was to get into the thrill of leveling up. Not to mention its fame for being the ground-breaker into new territory as the first Final Fantasy to test out the Playstation. *Sigh* If only we had FF7's plot with the graphics of the later ones and skip 8 entirely...

You forgot X! Oh right, there's not enough slots. But you could have left out 2 through 5 because they weren't a part of anyone's childhood outside Japan.
FFIV came out on the SNES in NA.
You sure? I know FFVI (that's FF6) came out on the SNES disguised as FFIII (FF3) on the Super and it was a smash hit.

What's all the fuss about FFVII? I prefer FFX. Aside from the awful voice actors; the story really gets to me.
It think that FF VII was the first FF game many really played. It was my first FF anyway.
But back to the topic at hand.

FF X. Loved the story and scenery. Only downside was the laughing scene.
*Shivers at the thought*

XII may not be the highpoint in storytelling, but the gameplay just worked really well. XII it is for me.

XII for me, I loved it (thought I might be a lone voice, but it seems at least a couple of others also liked it best) I loved the battle engine and loved the visible enemies + the whole business of passive creatures and aggressive ones. I never killed passive ones except to complete quests.
Other than that VII :)

FFIX is my favorite so far. As well it being the favorite of the original creators I think. I remember something like that being tossed around in OXM when they covered Lost Odyssey, which was also shit hot.

VII is my absolute favourite with some of the best characters and story. The others are all good too though.
