Poll: Which Gamers are most Pleasant?

I think that it's a toss up between shooters and MMO's because in a shooter i had someone apologize several times for shooting me because he was jumpy and the amount of times i have been thank for laying down some covering fire when asked and MMO's where someone gave me tons of gold just for being nice to him in a guild and being a tank for a while and getting most of the loot privileges.

But then again there are the "KANIHAZSUMGULDPLZKTHNXBAI" and "OMG NOOB that wepun iz teh h4x"
and as someone already mentioned the naked dancers and teabagging.

I think the classic players are the most pleasant ones, most have been playing for a such a long time, so that must mean there are more mature classic gamers. We all know kids that are 14 and less tend to get annoying on online games (especially if they have a microphone)...

I would say that RTS gamers and certain groups of FPS gamers are typically "nicest".

hmm rpg's just those first 2 together are the nicest i know of but extreamly snotty over things that hardly matter then someone mentions a donkey and it gets blown into a whole front of political arguements and everyone is turned into a douche. Also many of the games themselves often are very pg its really annoying

shooter games have some genually nice people to bad they're so rare for ever nice guy/ helpful guy there are 5 racists dicks, 7 insane this-is-my-life gamers, 2 singers, 4 people who can use party chat but don't, 3 people talking in a different language, and 20000000 12-14 year olds cussing and narating the damn game to everyone!! unless i'm with friends i just stick my headset in the controller and put it on my lap

don't know alot of classic gamers but the ones i do know, no matter how good a game is they will always compare it to an 8-bit sidescrolling game and interestingly find the ancient game superior

so in short

multiplayers are competitive/idiotic
singleplayers are arrogant/ignorant

i have become extreamley cynical with everyone i don't know face-face

Weird. I hardly even think of the SNES as retro gaming. But hell, I guess it came out 17 years ago now.

But, you said so yourself, the SNES was cool. Why do we need to get over it? Can't it still be fun, today? I'm not even a fanatical "retro gamer". I just saw your comment and was curious.

I've been pretty surprised by how nice some Left4Dead players are. Not all of them, granted, but a good majority of them will heal you when needed, etc.

I'd lean towards MUMORPUGER's, but then I'm horribly bias because I played WoW for 3 years. Met some incredibly nice people there though, and I'm still in touch with a handful even though we've all moved on and don't play any more.

I've had some pretty horrific times with shooters, specifically Halo 2 online on the Xbox. Being English, about 3/4 of the games I would join if I tried to communicate via headset I would get abuse hurled at me by hordes of Americans.

A quick list of gamers who annoy me to no end:
Halo fanboys ofc
Canadians, dont know what it is, but almost every time I play against a Canadian, theyre annoying as fuck.
Black people who think theyre "gansta". I once played a game of GTA IV online, in the 30 minutes it lasted, one guy spent the whole thing spamming racist shit. And, of course, it was only against the white people, whitey, honkey etc. In a game of cod4, almost my entire team were black. The n-word (dont know if im allowed to say it or not here, so im just playing it safe) was used at the end of each sentence. By all the black people. At the other black people. wtf?
A good lot of americans and english people piss me right the fuck off. Scottish people are always cool to play with though, probably cause were basicly the same.

Generally I'd say RPGers, followed by multiplayer only, then the rest of em have that one group of people who will go apeshit on you for screwing up once.

I would have to agree with those saying that you find both douches and pleasant people among every genre, I had a huge group of friends from my Mechassault and Mechassault 2 days, and ran into my fair share of hooting morons.

Well I find RPG gamers the most pleasant. They play games that are in essence hyper interactive novels and here is someone I am very happy to have a conversation with, someone who enjoys a good yarn.

MMORPG Gamers I find tiresome as they are almost always on some quest to prove their awesomeness and this usually involves you getting killed at some point.

Shooters if they are good tends towards arrogance and if they are bad tend towards blaming you for their failures.

Classic gamers will always bring up the games of yore and attempt to establish their superiority over current day titles in a tooth grindingly illogical way.

Multi only gamers build up hierarchy around famous people or organizations thus its hard to converse with someone with out them advertising uberdudemcawsomepants and his merry men.

Single only gamers are alright if you actually find one social enough to talk to you.

Please recognize this as the part my opinion, part satire based on stereotype that it is and don't kill me. =)

Realistically, you get the entire spectrum from angel to douchebag in every type of gaming. It just depends on the individual.

Shooters are nicest. Even though you get the occasional annoying person shouting " pwnd n00b!", most of the people ive encountered on live in shooters have been friendly and willing to help.
