I find this an interesting topic. We all can acknowledge that terrible games have come out over the years *coughfable2cough*...excuse me. But I'd like to hear your opinion on the genre that has the WORST games. For me its definately the Racing genre.

Tons of half ass games come out to try to compte with the big boys (Forza and GT) but many are just flat out shitty

2-D scrolling shooters, probably. Just think of half the titles in Action 52.

But racing games had Big Mutha Truckers! I call your entire premise into question, OP.

(And, yeah, JRPGs. Also sports games probably deserve a mention, too. Real easy to crap out something really sub-par for that genre.)

I'd say Action-Adventure because that's the genre that almost all of the crappy movie tie-in games fall into.

JRPG's are almost always the worst.

Racing has had a lot of crappers too.

The problem with most JRPG's? They are all the exact same thing :/

I'm gonna be dull and go with JRPGs as well.
They're all pretty much the same and they seem to get worse and worse.

FPSs or racing games.
Pretty much this.
Although FPS has had some some pretty decent games, like BioShock, the FIRST Halo, etc. But games like Call of Duty make me shake my head with shame at the mention of FPS.

(Edit: Oh, and sports games. Those suck too. They have no function)

MMORPGs. Games so soulless that they make even the most mass produced shovelware JRPG look like an inspired masterpiece. Most MMOs fail on a fundamental level- they're goddamn boring. A game that is boring has failed to entertain- the purpose of a game.

I'm speaking as an MMO player too. It's like the game devs just said, "Who cares? The amount of fucks we give is zero." These are games built on the foundation of sand that Everquest gave us. Everything that EQ did wrong, these games have imitated, because why the hell not? It's like they specifically set out to make people not want to play their games.

Adventure games would be on this list too, just for being deliberately fucking obtuse, but the traditional adventure game is pretty much dead. I have no opinion on the visual novels that currently make up most of the genre.

It may be one of my favorite genres, but a poorly done RPG is just infuriating and often meandering. What makes it worse is that RPG players generally know to be patient with the games, as they often only get good a few hours in. But when you get to that point and the game is still tedious, it just feels like time wasted.

I'll go with this.

Jrpg's have had their shitty moments, but they've also offered so much, at least in the past.

With MMOs there's only one noteworthy, and it's a soul sucking abomination that has caused millions to suffer. That and every other MMO since has been trying to desperately copy it, and failing miserably while at it.
