I went for taste.

Because I don't really like food that much, and if I couldn't taste anything, I could eat healthy because I wouldn't be able to go "EWWW THIS TASTES TERRIBLE!"

Also, I would have the coolest party tricks "Check me out, I'm eating dog poo!"

I'm amazed at how many people would give up smell. You give up taste when you give up smell. Have fun eating...I couldn't imagine NOT tasting things. O.O

I gave up touch. So I'll never personally connect with my DS ever again, whoop dee friggin doo...

Piss easy decision to lose smell. Also there is more than 5 senses. What about Pain/Hunger/Thirst/Balence.
In order...

Touch, touch, touch, and...touch.

You feel each, and Balance is obtained by the fact you can feel your legs moving and your limbs complimenting them to keep you upright.
Actually, balance is set by thingies in your ear.

If you play your music too loud and get hearing loss, it messes up your balance.

Either smell or taste, since they are related. If they're not, I'll go with smell. I don't get much out of smelling anything, anyway.

I say touch. I have no real use for it. And losing it would technically mean that I feel no pain.

ALSO!: Losing your smell would also make you lose your sense of taste. Just an F.Y.I.

Not sight, cuz looking rocks. Not taste cuz food is yummy (except for our dining hall's). Not touch cuz sex is awesome. Not hearing cuz music kicks ass. Smell can suck it, last time I have to breathe shitty air. But then what would air smell like? aha, maybe my nose would just be numb.

Why do so many people give up touch?
We developed a sense of touch for a reason, TO FEEL PAIN.
Your back could be on fire and you wouldn't realise till you smelt smoke or heard your flesh crackle.

Also, sex would be so boring....

EDIT: This makes me very cranky that people don't fully understand the applications of senses...

All of those, except for balance, are feelings. And balance is related to hearing. Although not directly affected by it.

You are wrong. We have between 9-21 senses depending on what you regard as a sense.

I could stand to lose touch. It means my brain compensates anyway, I don't lose any huge practical function, and I don't feel pain.
you dont want to lose touch...main reason...have you even had your hand numb and you couldnt move it properly....well thats happend to me...but because of the way i was forecd to lay down (was taking an Xray) it did it to both my arms.....i couldnt grab my cellphone and wallet off of the table....i had to swing my arm and drag it....yes my arm was still functioning but becauase it couldnt be felt...i couldnt feel when to close my hand and what not

Taste. I can live without tasting food, it would mean I just eat food to sustain me. Not being able to smell would annoy the living shit out of me.

If you smell the same thing for three minutes or so, you adjust to it and can't smell it anymore.

Losing a sense of smell would just be like that.

However your sense of smell and taste are connected (ever tried to eat with a blocked nose?) losing smell would mean losing taste.

At least Wikipedia and QI agree with me.

Ah yes, wikipedia, an unquestionable source of information.

OT: Seriously, why aren't more people giving up taste?

i'd lose smell.
I like my ability to feel things, plus no touch = sex pretty much sucks.
if I ever go deaf, im probably going to wind up killing myself. I can't stand silence.
I -might- be able to cope being blind, but I wouldnt be very happy about it.
and lets face it, if I cant enjoy a meal then life just aint worth living :p

Taste or smell, I believe it would be easier to adjust to not having either of these senses than sight, touch, or hearing. I think in the end I would go without taste because as others have said it would give me no reason to eat junk food, which would be beneficial to me.

On the bright side...pulling off The Stranger would be easy....of course you wouldn't feel anything on either "sides". :p

Smell, it's the most useless.

If I lost touch, I could be having a heart attack or something and I may not even realise.

(I understand there are other symptoms besides pain with a heart attack, it's just an example..)
