Forced matchmaking/cutting dedicated servers. Gods I can hate that system. Dawn of War 2 keeps throwing me into games with extremely high level player, resulting in me getting my ass kicked over and over again.
Not to mention that it's a hell of a lot slower, less efficient, eliminates custom content support and is a lot harder to protect against hackers and glitch abusers. For the PC, it's just a horrible,
horrible system. Shamus Young wrote a nice article [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/articles/view/columns/experienced-points/6768-Its-the-End-of-the-War-as-We-Know-It] about it on why dropping dedicated servers for the PC sucks so so much.
All the other options in the game might be annoying, but in the end don't affect the actual gameplay that much. Dropping dedicated servers
does affect your gameplay, in some cases in a pretty bad and profound way.

Subscriptions. I simply refuse to pay once for a game just to own it, then pay again to play it online (I'm looking at you, Xbox Live). Why pay AU$80 a year to play online with my 360 when my PC does it for free (and better)? That shit adds up y'know. Just 5 years (the average lifespan of a console, or at least it used to be, now it's probably a bit longer) at AU$80 becomes AU$400. Fuck that.
Because Microsoft takes care of all the servers on the 360. And that's not the case for the PC. Where do you think all the adds come from on so many dedicated servers on say CSS? Yeah, because server upkeep costs money, for Microsoft as well. And that also counts for those 'free' PC servers of,
someone is paying for their upkeep, it's just not you.
Why do you think my clan is asking for donations? Because the upkeep of all our servers costs about £230,-
a month, that's about AUD$400,- for you, that's what you pay each
year to use every server for every game you play on the 360, and we pay that each
month for only a couple of game servers for a couple of games. Nothing is free.
