To quote Bill Bailey when people ask if he's an optimist: "I hope so. Is the glass half-empty or half-full? I don't know, what is it filled with, liquid? Gravel? Blood? Is it used in a sacrificial context?"

Nah, but seriously, I'm a pessimist.

I'm optimistic with some downer tendencies. I'm a little prone to anxiety, but I try to look up as much as I can.

I'm a pessimist. If you think that everything is going to be good, then you'll be almost constantly disappointed. If you think that everything's going to suck, then you'll occasionally be pleasantly surprised.

I'm a pessimist who always hopes to be wrong. I'm the one that will tell everyone the horrible possibilities of what we're about to do... and then be the first to throw caution to the wind.

I'm a optimist. I see the good side in everything which is kind of tricky when you think of it.

I just go with it sometimes you have good days others bad, no point brooding or trying to forsee things you have no control over.

I'm not sure I can be classed as either... maybe because I've spent the last two years not thinking about the future in the slightest, so I have had neither positive nor negative feelings regarding it.

Now that I am thinking about my future, I suppose it is with a kind of tenuous optimism.

I'm an optimist. I can't stand to think on the down side of life. The world isn't just a big black hole of suck.

The Maddest March Hare said:
If you go in thinking everything's going to fail there are two possible outcomes:
1) It fails, you are right. You get to bask in the knowledge you were right all along.
2) It goes right, pleasant surprise, you lose nothing.

There's less disappointment if you only expect the worst.
This.

I'll admit that Yahtzee got me into thinking that way (and you too probably, considering your avatar), but it's really the best way to go. Although occasionally I get my hopes up so far that I just can't bring myself to believe it will go wrong.
Plus everybody will hate you for always telling them things will go tits up.

A weird combo of both. I see all the ways a situation can go wrong but know that because I am so amazing I can prevent them.

I am strange, I am a sunny optimist when it comes to others but when it comes to personal matters I tend to be more pessimistic. Maybe realist but that isn't an option.
