You know what's so pathetic about me? I couldn't play it the first time because I was too afraid of the giant ants. I know, I know. The giant spiders in DA:O also scare me. But they don't scare me from playing an awesome game anymore.
You know when I was but a child I became terrified of an Army Man game because of the massive ants too. Maybe there is something about massive ants that is just plain distressing.

I think Fallout 3 was a better game... but I would still rather see another Elder scrolls game come out before Fallout. The next newest thing from Bethesda will always be better than the last.
TES and FO might be coming out this year, it's official for FO 4 but yet I have still not have heard any new news about TES V, if doesn't get confirmed soon we are looking at 2011 -2013 at the latest
Does that mean we will be getting Vegas and Fallout 4? Or are they the same game?

Also, I was under the impression the Elder Scrolls games are done because the story arc with the Emperor is finished. I think all that really means is the title, "Elder Scolls", wont be used for future games taking place in the fantasy world they've created.
Fallout 4 = Vegas

either they are done or nearing it, they have been developing it since 2008 but I cannot find it anyway on amazon or any other sites similar pre-ordering TES V not even on the official website so it doesn't look good.

The Elder Scrolls V is being made. They are continuing to make games in the franchise - check the BethSoft blog, there's a post around there that explains it all.

I voted Oblivion, since I played it for a far longer time than I did Fallout 3, but honestly, it's a tough call. I only sunk more hours into Oblivion because it was easier to cheat, and therefore I could spend more time goofing off and doing the ridiculous than actually playing the game as intended. (I'm a mainly console user, by the way.)

I think I also prefer the Elder Scrolls lore over that of Fallout, but again, it's a really tough call. For me, Oblivion just barely edges out over Fallout 3, but when the next Fallout and Elder Scrolls games come out, it could go either way.

Oblivion.

Always felt there was more to do in the game in terms of quests to complete and locations to visit.

Never played Oblivion, so I guess I'll have to vote for Fallout 3. Yathzee's review of Oblivion didn't make me want to play it that much... Plus i think Fallout 3 is Amazing. If a bit grey/brown.

Fallout 3.

I tried giving Oblivion a chance, but once I got out of the sewer into the big, open world with no direction to go, I gave up.

Fallout 3, on the other hand, provided you with items I could relate to more.

I prefer guns over bows and sword anyway.

Come on you gotta be kidding me... Fallout 3 isnt even a "good game" by any means.
And I think oblivion's graphics are FAR better.. No grey-brownish blokes of shit here and there... Just a beautiful scenery full of colour and nicely rendered vegetation!

Oblivion.

It doesn't shove Small Guns, Lockpicking, and Science down your throat. It does encourage Melee, though. :)

That game actively hates players who don't take those skills...At least for the first few hours. PEW PEW goes the pathetic Laser Pistol from Super Duper Mart.
In Contrast Oblivion punishes you for taking certain skills. Alchemy, speechcraft, and barter come to mind off hand, but there's others. Why? Because they don't help you out in combat, but they do determine your level, and thus the combat level of your enemies.

Fallout 3 the first time through was amazing... but it has no replay value. It has WAY less game time than oblivion (without buying all the ad-dons which I don't feel like spending 50 dollars on). Also the class customization in oblivion was much better. With Fallout 3 you got "big guns, small guns, or laser guns" but all were pretty much the same thing.. guns... So as for replay value I would say Oblivion. As for a fun time playing through just once they are tied.

I really liked oblivion. I also really liked fallout 3. After playing a LOT of fallout 3 recently, I reinstalled oblivion and found a much more interesting world wherein a much less interesting game took place.

To be fair, in oblivion you have blades and blunt and all you ever did is hit people with them. You could also use Bows.

There really wasn't any more variation in types of weapons. Sure there were hundreds of weapons but they could be easily categorized into: Longbow, Shortbow, Dagger, Shortsword, Longsword, 2 Handed Sword, 1 Handed Axe, 2 Handed Axe, 1 Handed Club, 2 Handed Club (in comparision to fallout's Handgun, submachine gun, assault rifle, sniper rifle, shotgun, rocket launcher, mines, grenades, large automatic weapons).

Don't get me wrong, I really liked oblivion. It's just that, in retrospect, I prefered the actual game of Fallout (that is to say the mechanics involved in playing the game) to what I was presented in Oblivion. Oblivion is a game where one can spend days and days just goofing off. Fallout is a much more compact, more refined experience. There isn't as much to do (or even as much that's worth doing), but what's present is often quality. Much of the content in Oblivion involves walking to a dungeon and killing a guy or finding an item.

That said, because of the way the item structure is handled in Oblivion, the pursuit of awesome magical items often provided the motivation to wander the world. In Fallout 3, I'm not sure what drove this urge beyond simply wanting to see what was over the next rise.

My intelligent side says that Fallout SHOULD be the better game in my opinion, but the simple fact is that it isn't. Oblivion was my very first proper PC game, and my first 360 game as well because of it (I baught it twice), and I must have racked up at least...helll...250 hours playing it and loving EVERY second. In fact, since the day I got my 360 until now, Oblivion is still my most often and most enjoyed game to play out of everything else.
I have one problem with your entire quote. Only 250 hours? I have both the 360 and PC too and I probably clocked over 400 hours through high school.
Just what in the world do you guys do? I keep changing my characters in the middle of a playthrough (oh no, I don't wanna play melee no more, I'm gonna be a thief! Being thief is real boring in combat, I'll be a mage!)

Just went on and on.

Fallout 3.

The AI in Oblivion was an immersion killer. Not to mention the crappy plot and the shocking voice acting.

What's wrong with the voice acting?
