I was born upper middle class. Thanks to child support my inept Mother and Step Father never really got us stuck in the poor house while I was growing up.

Upper middle, but No inherited wealth. Not until my parents have an 'unfortunate' accident anyway. I earn my money.

I'm a student. My family is in the middle class.
To the OP: You stated (or at least made it sound like) that public school is one of the highest forms of education. I'm curious, what would you put as a lower education?

My father abandonned my mother 3 days after I was born after taking everything of value and forcing her to move out of their shared home. Underclass

middle class - my whole family, including a lot of my extended family tend to work in education, from tour guiding, to primary, to university.

It changed pretty regularly throughout my entire upbringing. I'm not sure what we were the day I was born, so it's difficult to answer ...

I'm pretty sure we averaged somewhere between middle class and upper-middle class. That really gives the wrong impression though. When your parents are borrowing money from your piggy bank to buy pasta for dinner (plain. Sometimes we put oil on it.) because otherwise they wouldn't have the money for food; you're not middle class.

By the same token, those moments are balanced out by the times I was going to the finest private school in the city before coming back to my three story home to watch my personal television.

So ... Yeah ... Chaotic might be the best summation.

Probably upper middle, I got a private school education(same as public in England), my dad has a job working in the education department but got it through experence not university qualifacations and my parents own there own house and inheritated one from thier parents. We have some luxeries but not too many, no fancy cars but things like the latest technology (eg. Blu-ray) if it's resonable price.

I said lower working class based on the kind of work (hairdresser, janitor) but I think that based on income we got by a little better than you might think. They really were careful with money too and that helped.

I was born into working class.
When we fled from my dad, however, we were jumped right into underclass.

It's kind of funny. I always viewed working class families as rich because they had so much more money than us.
Seriously, my childhood was po'. My mum would go without food most nights just so my siblings and I could eat.
I didn't even realise it at the time. I just assumed she wasn't hungry.
It's only looking back now that I see how bad we were.

Y'know, considering we're actually still underclass, we're pretty well off nowadays.
It's a good thing I live in Ireland.

I... honestly don't know anymore.

When I was born, both of my parents were actors. Not the rich and famous kind, either, so I would then say working class.
After they broke up, my mother steadily climbed higher, to the lower-middle class. But her current partner is rather well-off, so I think I'm in the upper-middle class now. Very confusing.

My father is still either working class or lower-middle, but he's happy. Doesn't that matter more?

Born into lower-middle, then my family became more middle due to a good ol' promotion in the Army. Then my dad left, we because technically working-class for a couple of months, now we're back to middle again.

Yay!

Although I know, as a result of choosing English for a subject in University, I'll be working class very soon.

I've always found classes weird.

Let's say for example there's a rich family who own lavish estates, drive flashy cars and went to private schools (Upper Class), they have a son who goes to a private school like them (because the chances are he wouldn't get the choice) but moves out when he is 18 and becomes a Baker.

His parents are rich, quite clearly upper class, but he himself (due to them being alive so no inheritance) has none of their money or wealth so hasn't got the luxury lifestyle they have.

So what class is he?

Working class.

We've been through hard times ever since I was little. We use coupons when we shop, we've mastered the art of making a cheap meal, when a car breaks down we fix it ourselves, I've worked for my nicest things, and I'm damn proud of it.

I was born into the Aristocracy that once owned 95% of England's land. Bow before my innate nobility!! DC 23 knowledge nobility to know which one I am talking about.

Father is upper middle class; mother is middle class (divorced).

Somewhere between middle class and lower middle class, due to having two parents near both extremes of the pay scale (i.e. one on a substantial salary, the other on a relatively low salary).
