Born into the Working Class. Now, thanks to the recession, my dad lost his job so our house's income hs halved. Still alright in terms of money, but we're now walking a knife edge between working and underclass...

Oh, I just realized.
Your definition of Upper Class only applies in countries with royalty.
But not America.

haha, I'm American! There ain't nobility 'round here. lol.

But my father is a major executive and we have a lotta cash, and he went to one of America's most famous schools. Oh, and I plan on joining this class after childhood, cause... I'm evillllll. lol.
Could you not argue that some great American families basically are modern day political and financial nobility?

Like the Kennedy, Rockefeller etc.

I always got the impression that class wasn't connected to your wealth but more to your family background. I mean you read about middle class families falling on hard times, aristocrats being broke and having to sell their property. Even though they were broke they still were of that class, they would still be acceptable within those social circles, if patronized and pitied. In the old days people didn't mix or marry outside their class, and to do so was greatly frowned upon -- an old fashioned scandal. I think thankfully we've largely got rid of those old static boundaries of blood and breeding, so in a sense were all 'middle' class now but of varying degrees of wealth, much like the americans.

Upper working class or lower middle class I'd guess my family has always been, of course I intend to change that within my lifetime. (The second person in my family to go off to university :D)

I can see it as an option?
I cant all I can see is Lower Middle Class and then working class nothing between on the vote bit. He does have it down on the OP.

I've always found classes weird.

Let's say for example there's a rich family who own lavish estates, drive flashy cars and went to private schools (Upper Class), they have a son who goes to a private school like them (because the chances are he wouldn't get the choice) but moves out when he is 18 and becomes a Baker.

His parents are rich, quite clearly upper class, but he himself (due to them being alive so no inheritance) has none of their money or wealth so hasn't got the luxury lifestyle they have.

So what class is he?
I'd say he is upper class, but his family could then be considered middle class or what not.

The easiest way is just go by where you live and the value of your house, for example if you live somewhere nicer than a council estate, I think you're higher than working class.

Middle class I suppose. My parents moved up from working class, by as much luck as hard work I suppose. They both don't have a high education, but are able to provide one for their offspring and own their own house/enterprise/etc.

I'd say Upper Middle but I might be considered Upper. My family owns at least 8 houses and rents most of them out, I have been a lazy bastard all my life and very rarely put in effort and I will likely do well in life because of a decent brain and the money I was born into.

My friends are all middle class or so though :)

Do you mean Upper Working Class? You said Middle/b], but 'Working' is the one I don't see on the poll.
