Poll: Who Else Is Starting To Resent The Japanese?

What I mean by my question is the following:

Recently, I've gotten a little bored in my wait for the next interesting games for the consoles I own and I found nothing for my 360. And so, I brought my PS2 back out for use. I found myself enjoying myself but I quickly realized I've already mastered and finished all of my PS2 games, so I traded most of them in for new games.

There inlies the problem; I went to a friend of mine's house (one who is a Japanese Fanboy) and played quite a few interesting games (mostly imports). And so, after playing this one game where you can play DBZ's Goku and fight Naruto or Monkey D. Luffy from One Piece, I think it was called Stadium D.O.M or something like that.

Anyway, I asked around and eventually resorted to the internet only to find out that every game I played at his house was a "Japan exclusive" game, in which case, instead of getting the game 3 years later (as usual) we're simply not going to get it because the Japanese are too simple to understand that Americans will pay good money (at least better money than their currency) for these games... Selfish Bastards...

So my question to you is: Is anyone else annoyed to hell by the Japanese's tendencies of either not releasing it here ever or doing so years later whereas they more-often-than-not get to benefit from our games as soon as they come out (feel free to complain about your versions of the Japanese-only titles that annoy you)?

Note: I am not flaming the japanese so much as I am expressing my anger towards their poor business choices.

Surely there must be American games that never reach Japan? Ever thought of that?

By your logic, I should resent the Americans as well, since their games almost never reach the storeshelves here.

Well no, why release something that isn't financially viable? The market for a lot of japanese games is quite small, and add to that all the extra time and money making it understandable for the west and it's not usually worth it.

I find it hard to resent a country that is giving me an excuse not to do French. And BTW I live in Ireland and we have the second strictest censor in Europe so lots of games get banned. (the strictest is Germany).

Actually, those crossovers games can't be released outside Japan because of the way liscensing works, Each of those (DBZ, One Piece, Naruto, etc) is brought over by a different company, and they refuse to work together. So, we don't get games like "Jump Superstars" for the DS, which is exactly what I just described (The "Super Smash" of Shonen Jump). Other games that aren't released don't get liscences here or are assumed to have no market, and so aren't released.

Half those games that Japan doesn't release here either suck, REALLY suck, or are porn games. So I'm not exactly dismayed by they're absence.

I don't know what your talking about. My Ace Attorney games seem to be reaching me in a timely fashion.

Alright, more seriously, yes, it does annoy me. Or did when I bought more than 2 games a year. I am sure that there are games that Americans produce that never reach Japan, but the big difference is that Japan does not have a whole sub-culture of people organizing weekend long conventions to the stuff that Americans import (at least not to my knowledge). I don't view as a malicious intent, I view it as an ignorant one. They don't think that games like Mother 3 will sell outside of Japan and will be either a deficit, break even, or a marginal success that won't be worth it. And some of this is likely based on some amount of past experience since Earthbound was not well received back when it came out. Still, I do think that some more market research would benefit the Japanese video game producers, especially in light of the aforementioned Ace Attorney series that seems to be popular.

I bet Japanese are not really interested in our games anyway. I mean how could games with dark atmosphere and realistic graphics appeal to a nation which make joyful games which are so colourful that it might give you epilepsy?

Same for the Japanese, there games will appear just a bigger crowd then the current anime fans and that is too little for them to prioritize.

Besides there is no such thing as "exclusive" when mininova is around.

Even Japaneese porn is fucking disgusting with all those girls squeking like 5 year olds and looking like they suffer when having sex.
And what the hell is with them blurring out the dudes' wangs?
Hey hey, I see we have an aficionado here.

i personally like Japanese related things very much: manga, anime in particular, sushi being my favorite food, and their history. I've enjoyed everything I have encountered Japanese related so far, I don't think that will change.

Looks like it's fashionable to hate popular things...

I really can't hate them, they're generally a hard-working and creative bunch, as long as they make games with good stories let them have their way.

So then why doesn't anyone just buy the rights to the license, translate it and start selling it here? It seems like that could be easy money (just like that Jump Superstar game)

Note: I don't know anything about licensing so I'm learning.

If you really want to play a japanese exclusive game, turn to the wonderful world of torrents. Or just buy it and pay the extra cost to have it shipped overseas
