- My response was ridiculous intentionally, and through that I was conveying my sarcasm, Just like George bush (a Republican) saying that hes a Democrat, the sarcasm is present, not through the tone of voice, but through the relative comicality of the statement. Its just like the phrase "When pigs fly" a pig flying is ridiculous making the claim that it will happen sarcastic.SuperMse said:I thought you were using hyperbole, not being sarcastic. Your sarcasm wasn't so subtle as it was impossible to detect in the form of writing. And your response is like George W. Bush jumping out and saying "I'm really a Democrat; look at all the material I've given the satirrists to work with! I was being sarcastic!"
- hyperbole can be used in conjunction with sarcasm
- I think you need to take a look at the definition of sarcasm:
1. harsh or bitter derision or irony.
2. a sharply ironical taunt; sneering or cutting remark
-you understand that works of satire can be considered sarcastic, whole literary works can be elongated forms of sarcasm, Mark Twain (an author that we all know) was notorious for writing whole stories, poems and songs that had no other purpose then to be a sarcastic.SuperMse said:Usually sarcasm is in response to something, as well as short, snappy, and to the point. Your mess of words was just random asshollery that came off as trigger-happy trolling. Even if it was sarcastic it clearly wasn't funny, and as I have said, detracted from the OPs conversation. Learn to either a) follow the prompt, b) put "off-topic" before rants, or c)shut up instead of wasting my time with your fantastic attempts to be funny.
-I'm sorry that my statement wasn't funny to you, and as far as the assholery goes that was intentional to make it seem more obscure.
A.) I did I just had a rather long aside
B.) Ok if it makes you feel better Ill go add an Off-Topic title to my post
C.) As I recall you were the one that felt the need to respond to me, you pursued me, you attacked me, and I responded. I guess I'm sorry for defending my actions that were in jest.
- No, having an aside that both chastises you, and then apologizes is a legitimate strategy in debate, this allows me to point out a set of criticism but remain neutral because ultimately I apologize.SuperMse said:Also, your attacks on us at the beginning and end of your response are not responsible argumentation techniques. Frankly, your response does sound like a cop-out to me.
hippo24: I hate you and your entertainment.
SuperMse: K, but I don't care.
hippo24: Ha, NOOB, I was being sarcastic!
And on the subject of Winnie the Pooh, just what are you trying to say? Hmmmmmmmmmm? Do you wanna mess with a bear and a hyperactive tiger?
-Your wonderful impersonation of me ,however, IS a bad arguing technique. Its the same thing 5 year olds do to you when they repeat what you say in a whiny voice in an attempt to make the impersonated sound like an Idiot. Granted my response to you was a little unwarranted because you said relatively little, but you sure took up the burden to argue after the fact.
I responded, but not specifically to you.
People like "the_truth" blatantly attacked me so I responded to everyone who responded to my rant/sarcastic remark seriously. You happened to be one of these people so naturally you were cited.
