I would be happy to live forever if I did not even have any pain. Also, I'll be eternally young so I can pick up generations upon generations of babes. Actually, that would probably end up in some crazy lawsuit... but I digress. I think it would be cool to be a really old and wise being that never has to face any real consequences. The best part: I don't have to work since I don't need any food. I can literally do whatever I like. Sounds pretty sweet and I don't think it would get boring since everything is always changing. Only bad thing would be if the Earth was destroyed and I was stuck floating in space. That would suck.

EDIT: What is this angle? Is it some sort of mythical creature I have missed out on?

Immortality sure do bring allot of opportunities.
Becoming the sole shadow-dictator of mankind for example!

Lets just say it would be awesome.

Never.

I might offer to give the prize to someone else I knew if they said they wanted it, but I'd never accept it myself. Eternal life sounds like torture to me, with everyone I love just fading away, and quite frankly if it was a choice between obtaining it and dieing on the spot, I would choose the second option every time.

Yes because it would mean you would never have to worry about anything, no school, no work, constant fun.

Well I'm a soulless cretin anyway. I'd sever all ties, build an empire, have a constantly refreshing harem and access to World of Warcraft private servers and editors and I imagine eternity would be fun. ^-^

I would in a heartbeat. Bonus points if I could "shut down" at will. It's just an extra, but I would love to go catatonic for a few billion years, then wake up.

Hmm, the "kill switch" is not necessary, but would be nice, there might be a problem with like staying paralyzed from the neck down or in a coma, but if that was ruled out, sure eternal life would be nice.
Travel the world, find a perfect place, then see how humanity got on, study languages, martial arts, do some good, put some money in a bank and live of it a hundered years later or just save something (like first issue of something) and after 400-500 years it'll probably be valuable. See the universe change, technological and other human advances.

And buy a storage space to keep all the bottlecaps I ever find...you never know.

And yes, there's that Ernie Menville train of thought:
I don't want to live forever. I mean, it sounds good, but what am I gonna do? What if I get bored?

Absolutely. Living forever would allow me to learn as much as I could. Just thinking now about how I would feel if I ever achieved immortality brings some of the best feelings I have ever felt to the surface.

I would take it if I would be able to end my life If I want.

If not, I would settle for...mmm...800 years.

Congratulation, it appears that you have just won the cosmic lottery. The angle appears before you one summer morning with the most amazing prize: immortality. Eternal life, eternal youth and vigor. No wound or illness or other cruelty of man or the universe would be able to deal you any lasting harm. Like a demigod, forever and ever and ever. No tricks, no catches, no games, no secret tests of character. You don't sell your soul or anything like it. Just a gift. A cool gift, because the universe is just cool like that.
Take your time to think. You can refuse the prize, if you want. But if you do so, then that's it. The opportunity won't present itself again. It's now or never: just shake the angle's hand and immortality is yours.
Hell of a deal.(or is it?)
Hate to be a grammar nazi, but Angle? do you mean Angel?

Anyway OT: I would DEFINITELY go for the immortal thing, as long as I didn't continue to age. Who would want to be 1000 years old and LOOK 1000 years old...I wanna be 1000 and still look 20...Anyway Immortality ftw

Yes! on one condition I want to be able to kill myself.

Because as soon as everything looks about the same as in Mass Effect and there can be no more progress I would probably become really bored.
But imagine this though it's the year 12010 you could then completely blow everyone away with your knowledge of wat happend 10 millenia ago. And by that time you surely capeble of speaking every known langauge that ever existed. Can you see where I'm going you wouldn't need superpowers beacause everyone would be convinced you're a god already.

Yes, to see the advance of man. I want to be there when we leave this rock. Though on the exception that all those who I care about must stay too, otherwise I couldn't bear the pain of watching them die every time I get to know them well.

Sounds ok, but I can still feel pain, right?
And can I sleep for a couple hundred years whenever I get bored? Presumably the resulting technology rush will keep me occupied for a while. Also, I'd live to see flying cars, and could respond with "YOU ****ERS PROMISED US FLYING CARS CENTURIES AGO!"

Problem being, boredom would come eventually, and then I'd start doing crazy stuff to keep the adrenalin going.

"Did you just punch out a bear?"
"Was a lot easier than I was hoping for, honestly..."
