If you live forever you need a few immortal friends. Parents hate it when they out live their kids. You get alone when your friends die. You get alienated from social trends and you cease to mentally exist. Your friendships progressively become shorter in comparison with your life. You lose all meaning. Your life would become solo to avoid pain.

Either that or adapt. But would you really want to be an emotionless shell?

no because at some point or another you are going to be floating through space unable to breath and that would suck monkey nuts.

edit: also if an angel comes down that means there is a heaven and heaven is way better than earth/the universe.
Off-Topic-
Actually, from the description my family and their priest gave me while trying (unsuccessfully) to imprint religion on me, Heaven sounded really boring. An eternal banquet with all your kin and everyone ever? Not liking my kin all that much I can't imagine spending eternity with them. Especially just eating. Don't get me wrong, I like eating... but for eternity? Christ I think that'd get boring after the first week... I mean I am sure that description was given to starving peasants in the Middle Ages and sounded great, but as someone who comes from a well off post industrial world... no thanks.

On-Topic-
If I was just an Immortal and not playing the Game from Highlander, I'd probably build the resources to leave Earth and explore the Universe until it... does whatever the universe will do when it ends...

you could lose your memory every 100 years and have it stored in a box for later use when you need to see stuff you did in the past. Different life in every box.

Heh, you just wrote the synopsis for a great movie right now.

The chance to watch everyone you ever love or care about grow old, feeble and die? Yeah, I think I'll face the reaper over that one.

I would like to. It sucks when everyone around you dies, I'm sure. But imagine the possibilities. You could do SO MUCH. It's not just agelessness, but being immune to death? That means you could change the world. (Yeah, à la The Authority).

I would eventually lose my mind with stagnancy and become a shell of a man who has literally seen and done it all. I would become so far extracted from society it would be heart wrenching. While I could become the "Old One" in a sense, it would make life and eternal prison of decay. You would lose your humanity and become a monster.

How about the life cycle of a normal elf? I could go for a millenium. No more than that.

I'd do it just to see where the human race will end up. We've advanced so far in just 100 years where will we go in the next hundred? Plus I could set up a bank account with like $20.00 bucks in it and reap the rewards after a century or two.

Only if I can kill myself when I'm bored. I'm sure there'd be enough to keep me amused until the world explodes, but after that I'm not walking for centuries in space to try and find an inhabited planet.

Living forever at first will suck, but after you go insane, the only way to go is back to sanity. BUT, after you become immortal, you become a figurehead of a capitalistic nation like, say, America, and rule it from the shadows. AKA Walmart is operated by several immortal beings varying from Vampires to "Fountain of Youth" immortals.

Personally i think there are advantages with eternal life.

One possibility would be the god factor. If your the only person that lives forever then you could easily become a cult leader. Seems pretty straight forward.

But a bad thing i would assume is that Eternal life doesn't mean that you will have perfect memory. Eventually Eon would pass without you noticing.

If you guys like this type of thing... there's a movie called The Man From Earth. Its about a caveman who is immortal and he tell his secret to his friends and they discuss it very intelligently. I highly recommend it.

Also Nephilim, because the half human sons of fallen angels always end up involved in this kind of business.

Maybe a few centuries of live would be kewl, to learn and experience as much as I could. But eternal life would inevitably leave me stagnant, bored, and longing for death...

I would mind it as long as I could end my life whenever I wanted, or maybe every 100 years I could kill myself. Although in all honesty if someone were to live forever they'd literally go insane. It's just a matter of time.

It would be awesome...until eventually the sun goes out the earth dissappears and your left floating through space gasping for a breath that will never come.
