"Yes, for another reason which I will now explain.";

Because then I could start sleeping more than two/three hours a night.

i would do it under one condition: it is possible for me to die. That way, I wouldn't be in those scenarios mentioned before, drifting around for eternity in the vacuum of space for eternity with no company. Also, that way, if I thought I had done everything I would ever like to do, I could kill myself and be done with it. People say that it would be tragic that everyone you know would die. Yes it would be. However, the joy of being with them for years and years would be wonderful. They would die either way. You must accept that and learn to enjoy the time you have. Also, just because you live forever it doesn't mean that time moves faster for you. Forty or fifty years with someone you love is still a lot of time to spend with them.

There was a time when I thought that living forever would be too painful. That at some point I would be content with not existing anymore.

However, now I know I would rather go on and see the world when it ends and even further still.

I'm already convinced that my soul will go on long after my body has withered and returned to whence it came. If that's not eternal life then I don't know what is.

If I were able to do that in physical form...Sure, sounds good to me.

Well, not 'forever', since forever is a very, VERY long time.
So long that it is impossible for a human mind to ever comprehend the sheer magnitude of it.

But 'indefinitely', sure.
Stop my ageing and prevent my body from wearing out, and I'll be happy.
Maybe enable my body to recover from otherwise lethal or permanently crippling wounds.
That way, I can live for ages and still off myself when I get bored.

Yes simply because I want to be around when all of our major technological advances happen. Plus I want to visit other planets and meet aliens.

There are several reason I wouldn't take immortal life:

It would get very dull after a while. With unlimited time (presumably at the same age I am now) I would be able to quite literally do everything and see everything, which would leave very little of interest anymore. Sure there might be some things which are invented which might be interesting, but the novelty of anything wears off eventually.

It would be awful to see people I loved, liked or even just knew die while I stayed the same. Eventually you'd end up disillusioned about living from having seen too much death, which would mean your entire immortal life was basically pointless.

Connected to the above point, you'd see the absolute worst of humanity again and again, and while it might not actually be getting worse than usual (for example, no one has pulled a Hitler for the last 70 years), you'd see so many bad things happening that eventually you'd get very bored with the whole situation.

And of course, there's a logistical side to this as well. If you can't eat, you still don't die, so you could starve for hundreds of years if something went wrong, or drown, or be buried alive, and be constantly screamingly aware of what was happening every moment until you escaped. And when the world came to an end, you'd be left, out in the middle of space, witnessing the end of the universe, unable to die, and I can't think of anything more terrifying than the thought of watching everything end around you, while you hang in space surrounded by vacuum but not able to die, wondering whether once it's all over you'll still be in some form of existence, trapped forever in a conscious mind with no ability to affect the outside world.

Yeah, that's something I want in on.

It would probably get dull if you tried to remain like the other humans, but I'd figure out ways to spice things up until the human race died out or evolved, then it's off to space.

Well eternity is a really funny word ... guess the word lost its meaning a long time ago (or from the begging) ... Would you really live forever when we tore the world apart and there will be no living thing anymore?

You forgot to mention that besides ascension to paradise and reincarnation, death could ALSO mean things like eternal suffering in hell, eternal boredom in some sort of purgatory, or just nonexistence. There is no way to know, and the angle isn't going to tell you.
Ah, so an obtuse angle.

Eternal life would probably turn into hell or purgatory on its own, and I'd probably start craving nonexistence after a while. So, yeah, still taking my chances with death.

Humanity dies out sooner or later, stuck on a barren rock for billions of years. Solar flare comes and destroys the planet, pulls you into the core of the star where you burn for even longer.

Star dies and becomes a black hole, trapped inside a crushing gravity well for however long a black hole lasts. After that it's just waiting until entropy overtakes the Universe and leaves you immobile for eternity.

I'll pass, thanks.
This view always confused me. Sure you'd be alone for a really long time, but you'd grow used to it. Plus you would have literally an eternity to think, and imagine. I could enjoy that.

*About to post Queen's Who Wants to Live Forever and sees two other people do it*
*Says to self, "well at least more people know about Queen besides me."*

Yeah it would be an incredible gift to have for the sake of helping humanity but it would cause some sort of panic when people begin to realize you have some form of immortality. You could either be reclusive or plan it out well but it would take a dedicated mind not to succumb to pressure. Look up some good sci-fi or fantasy villains for some hypothetical examples on what could happen when you live forever.

Hell yes I would. Technology in ten years will be amazing, so think 100, 1000 etc years down the line.

Yes. Living eternally would be awesome... But I would leave room to die if I am killed in an accident or damaged beyond a good life.

But I want to be inmortal just to see how everything ends... AKA watch the TRUE apocalipse.

I think my last words would be: "So... this is how it REALLY ENDS"
