A kid from the neighbourhood in front of my school once tried to get me to reveal my cell phone by asking me the time. Glad I had a wrist watch...

I'm sorry, but I like not having to take my phone out of my pocket every time I want to check the time. I also like being able to check the time during exams and such.

I never did. I always felt it was uncomfortable and unnecessary. When I was younger before I had a phone I had a normal watch with the wristband removed I used on my pockets, and nowadays the phone does it.

Nowadays I wear a watch even more, it comes in handy. Plus it's a Yellow Submarine watch, so it's automatically far better at telling the time than every other watch.

I've always preferred a wristwatch over a phone. It's easier and more convenient to just glance at your wrist than have to dig your phone out and check it. I don't have a stylish watch or anything, mine is purely functional. It has everything I need right on my wrist.

Prior to this thread, it had actually not occurred to me that wearing a wrist watch is redundant if I have my cell phone with me.

I wear a black steel Bulova watch with a movement powered mechanism. It'll never die as long as it's wound up enough or I'm wearing it. Sure, it's not waterproof, but it's not like I go swimming with it on anyway. You'd be surprised at how many people can't read an analogue watch/clock these days. Someone asks what time it is, I look at my watch, I don't have to reach into my pocket every time I want the time.

I do, it's much easier to see than pulling my phone out. Also it's especially useful if I'm in lesson, or somewhere else where it would be inappropriate or ill-advised to pull my phone out (dodgy areas, likelihood of mugging)

Nope. Found that they ALWAYS got in the way.

When I did wear it though I wore it the PROPER WAY. On the RIght Wrist with the face of the watch UPWARDS. None of this Upside down bullcrap.

I do. A phone may have a clock on it, but it's still a phone primarily. When it comes to a portable timepiece, in my opinion, nothing beats a smart analogue wristwatch. Digital ones just make you lazy. I like to be able to actually tell the time, not just read it.

I use a wristwatch, and I'm 19!

I like it for 3 reasons:
1) I can wear it when I run and work out. Having a cellphone in your pocket while running is a great way to lose/damage your phone.
2) mine is water proof. I can wear it in the pool, diving, or in the rain. good luck bringing your cellphone to the pool or scuba-diving.
3) I can always tell the time. Cell Phones have battery life that is basically universally less than one week. My wrist watch is 2 years old and still keeps the time perfectly.

edit: oh, everyone wondering, my watch cost $20, has the date, day of week, 2 clocks, a stopwatch, and an alarm and is water-proof to 330 feet.

Mine is purely practical, I don't understand the train of thought that watches are ONLY for fashion.

I'd much rather use a watch conveniently on my wrist than have to fumble around in my pocket every time I want to check what time it is. Which is pretty often. As in I'd check my watch and then check it again 5 seconds later because I wasn't paying attention the first time. >_>

Also, unlike what seems like pretty much everyone except me, I don't always have my phone on me. I don't want to have to carry an admittedly fairly small, but lumpy object around with me all the time. Also unlike most people I don't feel the need to be in conversation with someone 99% of my time and unless I'm expecting a call, nobody wants to talk to me either. This makes the incentive to turn my phone into anything and everything else I might want rather less strong, so my time telling device of choice remains a nice dependable watch.

wrist watches are a piece of fashion, a statement of 'class'. Not meant persee for the dire need to know the time but because it is an elegant piece of jewelry that you find good looking. like a necklace, or a ring.

with the bonus that it does allow you to check the time if you have your hands full or can't reach your phone or something like that. no matter how you spin it, it's a more convenient way to keep track of the time then a phone is

I wear a wrist watch, because I cannot be bothered to keep taking out my phone from my pocket. I am not old either, I'm only 22 years old :)

Watches are accessories, or jewelry even. Jewelry that's acceptable for a man to wear.

A great watch is supposed to add to an existing outfit and can add a sense of class to your appearance. For the most part, I actually agree with this. Though this usually applies to so-called "time-pieces" that are supposedly higher class and higher quality than general 'watches' which are what most people still wear- I wear a watch, for instance, but it's digital and mostly just for keeping time while exercising.

Things like Omega watches or the stuff they show off in Bond movies do look pretty damn cool and classy- but they're just the bullshit male version of diamond rings and earrings, though- so they have an absolutely unacceptable level of markup placed on them.
