I was reminded of this watching the LRR about synchronizing time. Why would people even wear these things? They look and feel as outdated as a 'cell phone' the size of a toaster.

Conclusion: Old people are the only ones who wear wrist watches.

Edit: It ate my poll, oh well.
I want to get a wrist watch.

They're just a fashion accessory now a days, but they make you look damn professional, and yes that does matter. Not to mention, it's one of the only pieces of Jewelry outside of a wedding ring a guy can wear, regardless of his style.
Actually, depending on how serious you are, there are quite a few bits of jewelry a man can wear.

1. Watches
2. Cuff Links
3. Tie Bars/Tie Tacks
4. Collar Bars
5. Interesting Belt Buckles
6. Shirt Studs

Beyond those sorts of things, men have other fashion accessories

1. Neckwear (Tie, Bow Tie, String Tie, Bolo Tie, Ascot, etc)
2. Vests
3. Hats (nice ones, not baseball caps)
4. Pocket Squares
5. Belts/Suspenders

We men have lots of choices...we just don't tend to avail ourselves of them. More's the pity, I say.

I don't like wrist watches, but I wear them every time I expect I'll need to know the time often, such as during work.

There is no way retrieving a cell phone from your pocket is easier than just looking at your wrist.

I do. You never have to turn off a wrist watch for everyone else in the room, their batteries last forever, it's easy to find a waterproof one cheap, and they take up less space. They're very practical when you're out of doors. Also, wrist watches look good in a way cell phones can't. A silver watch with a black jacket or shirt looks awesome.
Agreed.
Still being in school, there are many times when you can't whip out a phone. I wear a watch, though no one else seems to.

I also need a waterproof wrist watch when scuba diving. Need to check your dive time so as not to get the bends and have to sit in decompression forever

[*raises hand*] I wear a wristwatch, I keep it concealed under the cuffs of my fingerless gloves for whenever I need to check the time.

I wear a watch. Why? Because taking out your cell while talking to someone just looks rude. Checking your watch? Not so much.

I wear one occasionally because it was my tenth anniversary gift and it's awesome. Citizen Eco Drive. Seriously. Amazing piece of technology.

I do more frequently use my phone as my time piece, but let's be blunt- no matter what you may have been sold, a cell phone is not a fashion accessory.

Well, they're required at my work anyhow. You wear a watch or you get written up. For that matter...I'd rather wear a watch than carry a cell phone. Sometimes? I DON'T want to be accessible.

I wear my watch all the time. It's just an average 30 dollar black watch, but it works just fine.

I always wear a watch because I'm always wanting to know what time it is and I hate to be late.

And now that I'm running it helps with that as well.

I use one, analogue, no frills, highly efficient. I wear a watch because I find it more practical when I just want to glance at the time, plus cellphones aren't allowed in my school so if a real uptight teacher sees you checking a cellphone they'll take it. Also it makes me feel smart that barely anyone around be call tell analogue time, that and I've worn stuff like watches and leather bracelets for so long that my wrist feels naked without a watch.

I carry a cellphone at all times.
It has a clock that configures itself.
Why would I wear another clock?
Redundancy is redundant.
