It's the only non-effeminate and non-ostentatious, socially acceptable piece of jewelery that a man can wear.
Yeah I'm another one saying; doesn't everyone wear them? the only people I know who don't wear wristwatches are children.Midnight Crossroads said:I do. You never have to turn off a wrist watch for everyone else in the room, their batteries last forever, it's easy to find a waterproof one cheap, and they take up less space. They're very practical when you're out of doors. Also, wrist watches look good in a way cell phones can't. A silver watch with a black jacket or shirt looks awesome.
I do look forward to the day my phone battery lasts 7 years and I can strap it to my wrist.Zechnophobe said:So, part of the reason I asked, is because I have noticed a trend in 'functional' objects slowly turning into 'fashion' objects.
For example, there are lots of automatic cars that put the 'gear shift' on the floor, even though it isn't necessary. Similarly, breast pockets on most shirts are there for looks not functionality! I think Wrist watches will or have gone that way. You don't NEED a separate device to tell you the time anymore!
I'm 18. I wear mine as a fashion accessory rather than an actual timepiece, although I do like to keep it wound and correct. It has a skeleton face so you can see all the gears whirring.Zechnophobe said:I was reminded of this watching the LRR about synchronizing time. Why would people even wear these things? They look and feel as outdated as a 'cell phone' the size of a toaster.
Conclusion: Old people are the only ones who wear wrist watches.
Edit: It ate my poll, oh well.
Umm, you can find a good one for like 10$ at Walmart...Bearadox_42 said:I don't but I wish I did. I can just never find a watch that I like and that doesn't cost the same as a small island
