My pet, who's to say a humans life is worth more than an animals?

If it was my brother or you, it would be you.
If it was my uncle or you, it would be you.
If it was my cat or you, it would be you.

Now, maybe if it was a random cat I don't know or you, it would be you but who knows what kind of loving look at the cat is giving me ;)

My order of importance would go somewhat like this:

Family > Pets / friends (hard to choose) > Some people I know > Strangers > People who I know who are horrible people.

To me people are on a fairly equal standing with most animals. It's the emotional attachment that is important to me. Yes pets can be replaced, but so can people for that matter. Plus it seems a bit wrong to see an animal needlessly suffer due to human actions.

People have killed for inanimate things, money and other stupid reasons. I could care more for a wall more than I care for a person if I had the right reasons. It just depends on what I value the most. I wouldn't say that makes me selfish.

I don't have a pet right now but if I had a cat or a dog(which is more likely), I'd kill OP. I'd probably kill my pet if it was a snake/hamster/fish(not a mutation of the three) or something else.

My god, I'm a racist.

This lack of ethical mindset is either a joke or extremely disturbing.

Well, my pets are my family pets, and I have more than 1, in fact 3. 2 cats and 1 dog. I adore the male cat as he's affectionate and fun but the female cat is a temperemental, boring animal and I hate dogs, so, I'd probably save you. Hold on a sec, need to get this out of the way...

There really need to be "Both" and "I don't have a pet" options. I don't have a pet so I can't comment.

How in the hell does that show a lack of empathy? Because someone chose to save a living, breathing creature that they knew and had emotionally bonded with over someone that they'd never met once in their lives, they're somehow not empathetic?

Or are you insinuating that human life is inherently worth more than animal life, irrespective of any other factors?

I don't see why it's selfish to rather save an animal than a stranger. In movies, I never care when somebody dies, I do when it's an animal.

Look, when there's an emergency most people would probably try to save people over animals, but if you ask it like this people's feelings tend toward their pets.

People like you play the victim card, but you are actually part of the problem. Because you were wronged by humans at some point in your life, you are bitter and upset and thus are less likely to help others or treat them poorly, thus leading THEM to feel biter and upset... and then the cycle continues.
Don't try to psychoanalyze me. You haven't gone through the necessary ten-week correspondance course.

It's not particularly that I'm bitter and upset (I am, but that's not where I'm coming from), but just that I have no faith in humans due to a fair amount of personal experience. You said yourself in the Original Post that you're supposed to be a complete stranger to me. To me you're just another human being, which means that you have the capacity to, potentially, be the next Hitler. My dog doesn't have that capacity. Animals can't be evil.

Are you all equally prepared to die so my cat can live?

Mind you she throws up in my bed occasionally and yesterday she clawed the sh*t out my friend when he picked her up.

Even as a pet owner myself (I have a cat), I feel that people who put the lives of animals they own over other human beings are SELFISH. Selfish because their pets love them unconditionally and provide companionship,
Well, aren't you a hyupocritical little shit?
You declare pet owners to be devoid of empathy and selfish because they wouldn't save your worthless little life, well fuck you, you are the exact kind of person that I would gladly let die horribly.

Would you let your child die if it would ave a stranger?
No?
Then I declare you to be selfish and lacking in empathy, you'd let another human being die, possibly leaving a family behind just because you don't want to give up the mewling fruit of your loins, you could easily get another one you realise?

By the way my dog, my best freind, the only thing to stand by me no matter what, my FUCKING FAMILY that had been there keeping me sane since I was eleven died a few days ago, you have no fucking idea the pain you feel, as you clearly don't care about your animals.

I would activly KILL a dozen strangers if it would have given me even another day with him, a pet is the most loyal and loving family it is possible to have.

Why do people always argue that the life of a human being is inherently more worth than that of an animal? It doesn't make any sense!

I've met too many jerks that don't deserve the gum off the bottom of my shoe. You may be a fine upstanding citizen but I don't know that, you could just as easily be the next Hitler. Therefore, I will save my cat Walrus.
