THIS IS NOT A FLAME
read the whole thing first

It is a good thing for music that MJ died

Because he made such good songs it was difficult for new simmilar artists to compete
I call shenannigans, this is a FLAME.
this is a fair point not a FLAME!

New blood is needed for music to be restored

I only really starting getting into George Carlin a few weeks ago and I admit was very pissed off when I realised that all of the RIP posts in the comments in his videos weren't joking. So sadly I'm gonna have to go with Michael.

Harry Kalas did it BEFORE it was cool!

*Waits for people to ask who HE is*
He died doing what he loved. Baseball misses him.

Carlin's death had a much larger effect on me than wacko's.
To me, Michael Jackson was a creepy pedophile with a screwed up face.
Carlin, however, was a comedic genius and the best comedian of all time, in my opinion.

Neither really, not in an ignorant way but both of their deaths don't particually affect me. Michael Jackson's was more of a 'shock' though.

George Carlin was more important. He pushed the envelope of what you can say on t.v. and he brought up a lot of political issues. Wereas Micheal Jackson was just some weird looking pedophile I.M.O. who shouldn't have gotten so much attention.
Did you see him when he was black? Do you really think he was a pedophile, or is that the only thing you've heard about him? I'm 15 and I know there was no definitive proof that he even touched any of those kids, the reason he loved children so much is because he never got to be one himself. George Carlin was a great comedian, don't get me wrong, but Micheal's music will always be played opposed to people who didn't like George Carlin's ideals or his "seven words you can't say on T.V." or something of that nature.

While Jackson did create great songs for us, I can't help but feel that it's, you know, just music.

I know this will likely be like waving a red flag in front of a bull to some, but that's how I feel: The songs were great and I certainly liked Jacksons songs (I'll always remember Thriller) but they are inherently just songs. There will always be new musicians, new bands, new songs.

Same can be said for stage- and stand-up comedy. But I feel true gems in that area of entertainment are even more rare than in music. Sure, George Carlin was old and had lost his best edge on the stage. You could see it, you could hear it, there is no denying it.

But his wit was as sharp as ever. And it take a while until someone can measure up to that.

George Carlin, may he rest in peace. I shall miss him more than Michael. No offence to anyone, but I feel that Carlin was to comedy what the Beatles and Elvis put together were to music.

I personally never found Carlin's stand-up all that funny (I don't know why but hear me out before flaming me). I much preferred his books and his random appearances in movies like Dogma. George Carlin will be missed :'(

Neither of those deaths affected me in any way, shape, or form. Frankly I'm not old enough to really care about either of them. (21) That and I've got a whole bunch "I don't give a damn" that I have yet to burn through.
