First off not a versus thread, a preference thread. We're all a fan of at least one of either Bioware's or Capcom's games, no shame in that only pride. Question is which one do you prefer?

Is it:

A)Capcom with their insane and wacky stories and plots, sure it's not like a movie script but the oddity and weirdness is what we love about their games(zombies made by super soldier serum, a boy whose placed in a robot body to stop a crazy professors robot army)

or B) Bioware with their mastery of video game writing, story telling, depth, and characterization.

It's kinda hard for me to choose, on one hand I have a company that has made my favorite video game/cartoon character (Megaman) franchise and on the other I have a company that has pretty much written the book on video game storytelling. I'm gonna go with both, it's a safe option for me

**This is not by merit of work just which one you like. yes, Bioware pretty much dominates the storytelling of video games but this YOUR opinion not others. Which do YOU like, not believe is the best. Just because some big shot says vanilla is better than chocolate doesn't stop you from saying you like chocolate. Just because Bioware has good stories doesn't mean you can't like Capcom, I always thought the Megaman series had pretty good stories.

As for Capcom, they are a very anime centric company, so given that there is no love lost between Anime and myself, I cannot be compelled to be interested in a company that purveys its ideas and ideologies.

So for me it is Bioware. Granted I dont think Biowares writing is anything phenominal, but its better than capcom.

Bioware. Less for plot (pretty average in that department) and more for dialog and character interactions. Not a big fan of Capcom.

Ummm....how is Capcom even a contender?

If you like them that's fine, but I think their entire story division needs to get the pink slip, then black listed from every other studio...lol

Well come on, Bioware is always sci fi or fantasy where Sci fi= soldier part of an army and Fantasy=one man against an empire. I love Bioware but I also love Capcom, to put it simply Capcom is like the sugar to Bioware. Yeah realism and reality is cool but there get's to a point where it gets kinda dull and you need an injection of insanity, that's when I dust off my copy of Red Joker and go nuts.

No one's voted for Capcom? Unsurprising considering the last two Capcom games I played had no plot whatsoever... they were still good games though. Anyway, I'm not sure anyone comes close to Bioware when it comes to epic plotlines; Dragon Age Origins = best videogame story ever. Maybe Rockstar?

Bioware has my vote but only by a smidgin.

Love both companies, both have made some great games with great stories. But the worst Bioware game I can think of is Dragon Age 2 and I love that game. Where as the worst game story that came out of Capcom is well Dino Crisis 2.

Well this based on both companies entire release history not just 2000. Capcom isn't afraid to get weird and that's something to admire. Plus Rockstar games boil down to jack ride, grab gun kill hooker, pull off crazy stunt, hit the club. Not really deep, 'cept for the Ballad of Gay Tony

Capcom, for the depth and richness present in the Ace Attorney series. Trials & Tribulations easily beats any Bioware game in the story department. The plot in Bioware games isn't really all that good either. Their games have good writing yes, but as RedEyes mentioned, that mostly applies to dialogue and character interactions. KOTOR is the only one of their games whose story I found interesting.

Capcom. If only for the Ace Attorney games, and how you said story, and not character interactions.

Going purely by story? Bioware. Capcom I think always delivers better gameplay, and while some of their business strategies are less than favorable, Bioware can be just as guilty in some regards. And while Bioware tends to do better stories, all their games are either medieval fantasy or sci-fi. At least Capcom has some variety in their stories.

I think Capcom's worlds are more interesting than Biowares. From Ace Attorney to Okami to Dead Rising to Megaman.

What I would like to see is if there's a game where Capcom makes the world and the gameplay, comes up with the level design, music, and characters, while Bioware takes care of the story, and character interactions.

I've always found BioWare's storylines and writing to be top-notch.

Capcom's Ace Attorney series has had a good story (with excellent plot twists and dialogue), but it just doesn't meet the quality of BioWare. They're basically the storytelling gold standard in the industry right now.

Plus, Capcom's non-Ace-Attorney "wacky" plots are funny, but they're also just lazy. They shoehorn in a story as an excuse to get back to the game, whereas BioWare seems to actually care about their stories.
