I have no problems with cats. Sure I like dogs better but there is nothing wrong with a cat.

Thanks for the nostalgia attack OP, I grew up with that movie!

Also, without cats we wouldn't have Catgirls!

Never. Death to all Furries. Kill the XENO!

I love Cats. They're adorable and will be my friend for ever and ever!

Thank you good sir, I'd be lost without my Neko Images. I personally find cats interesting, they sneak around, sulk around you as though your a trap and (for me alot of the time) they then sit on me and want me to pat them. Last time I was at my friends, I was sitting on the bed face down, I felt his kitten on top of my back. Next thing I know, it's sitting on my head. :S

Pretty much, and why not just get a dog or another animal that might acknowledge your existence for more time then it takes to feed them?
As my bro says, cause dogs are practically slobbering idiot slaves, domesticated versions of a proud animal, wolf, who's nothing but a servant to you his whole life (I don't quite share the view, but he's right). Even if you point at guard, police and hunting dog, they still only do that to serve their master.

Cats on the other hand have a mind of their own, and are still naturally agile feral hunters - give a look to a cat when it catches a mouse or a bird, see how domesticated they really are :p

Trying to run one over??? That's effed up. I couldn't even run over a pigeon. Well I definitely prefer dogs over cats only because they are more playful. I have never met a single cat that didn't run away. The only way to get within 10 ft. of [most] cats is to actually own it and live with it for awhile. I fear approaching cats because 9 times out of 10 they will threaten you with that almighty paw of theirs. But dogs will generally allow you to pet them, if they don't bite. Plus cats are good to lay with but aren't very good to play with aside from putting some fuzz ball in front of its face and allowing the cat to paw at it. But I will admit that a cat can be "cute" at times, so they have their moments.

The japanese are complete opposites. There are always Catgirls or Catgirl heroines saving the day from evil. Tokyo Mew Mew is a great example.

I have a cat myself named Noche and he is so nice. He doesn't meow often, he lovingly curls around your feet, and generally is a good pet. And the litterbox isn't a problem because he shits outside.

So essentially:

American Cat: Set to destroy the world.
Japanese Cat: Innocent girl whose skirt has a tendency to fly up.

I don't know why people don't like cats.

Because they're freaking awesome!

I have a dog and a cat btw, I think they're both great.

You're right, even more reasons to hate them.

We should all send them back to outer space, the bastards. Seriously I hate cats, my uncle and aunt have 2 cats, one is extremely annoying and the other is a kitten who jumps on the freakin' keyboard when I try to play and covers the entire screen. I HATE YOU STOP COMING NEAR ME!

At least when I go for a walk with my dog (rottweiler) cats are too terrified to even try moving when she's next to me.

If you want a discussion to come from your post, then yeah. You need to say more.
Gaaaah! It should've simply said "cats are evil,we hate evil". I don't hate cats, however, and have no place in this thread. They're better than having a doberman chase after your sorry ass.

I suspect that's it's less a widespread hatred of cats as it is that it's generally unacceptable to hate dogs.

I prefer cats to dogs, but I *really* don't like being around dogs, so that's not saying much.
Personally, I like amphibians and fish. And giant water bugs.

For a great movie that has a Cat and Dog working together I would suggest none other than:
I used to love that movie when I was little. I watched every time I went to see my grandma. Then my mom told me I wasn't allowed to watch it any more because killed the puppies and kittens in it.

Apparently it's unconfirmed as to whether they did or not but the credits don't say that no animals were harmed in the making of this film. Rumours say that up to 27 kittens were killed in the making and such.

I still feel a bit sick when I think of this film though.

On topic I think it's just because dogs are generally so happy and eager to please whereas cats kind of do their own thing. Obviously there's differences between breeds and things, but stereotypes will be stereotypes. I've had both a cat and a dog growing up. Our cat was pretty evil. Had her longer than the dog and when the dog was a little puppy she liked to hide around corners and frighten it. It was pretty hilarious. The dog used to follow us around every where we went in the house so it wasn't like it was hard to anticipate her coming. She got really weary of the cat, always moving slowly near where the cat could surprise her. Even after the cat got old and died she was still cautious for ages afterwards. When a friend bought her new kitten around the dog (now fully grown) was scared of it (even though the kitten was tiny).

Maybe it was the case of the cat being older and more cunning was making it known that it was her house and she was boss or maybe it was that my cat, at least, was evil and sneaky and enjoyed tormenting dogs.

I love cats! I can't imagine how cruel someone would have to be to hate them! Their adorable! It feels so nice to cuddle with them, while they sleep on your chest [footnote] I feel as if I sound like a beastialitest, or whatever it's called[/footnote] Or when they sleep next to your feet, and keep them warm, and it's so cute when they purr!
