I honestly thought it was kind of funny. It's not like this is a serious competition anyway, and I like Mojang, even if they're not better than the people they've beaten. It's just amusing.
Nice avatar, just saw that movie the other day.

Anyway, because no one hates Mojang. Someone might be pissed as fuck at, say, Obsidian for making making FNV freeze so fucking much, or Nintendo, for being Nintendo. No one really hates Minecraft, even if they don't like it they respect it. And the spiteful "You hath earned my wrath, Game devs!" person is more likely to vote than someone who just likes a company.

My first console was a PS.

I've only ever played pokemon games and played scribblenauts on nintendo consoles. Neither is a reflection of nintendo being any good.

I voted against Nintendo because I have no feelings toward them but I like mine craft.

According to this list I've enjoyed 1 game by Namco Bandai, but not enough to buy it. Tekken 6.
But I would have paid $100.00 for Minecraft.

I don't feel like obsidian have lived up to the standard that was set by Black Isle (I know they're not the same company, but it's beside the point, they are pretty shit anyway and I purposely steer away from anything they touch). But I like Minecraft.

I assume Valve will be up against them in the final four. I'll be voting against Mojang if that's the case.

I don't think they should even be a contender. They've made... sorry are making one game which is being released while still in very early stages of development.

That's bullshit.

If your game isn't finished, you shouldn't be getting awards for it.

Simple as that.
Very good point.

It's simply unfair that they'll be eligible for awards when the game is actually released too.

It was always up against developers that I had a personal hatred for

I hate all it's competition
They have all made at least one game that I hate.

And I have no feelings either way about minecraft.
so you just don't like videogames?
why are you on a gaming website again?
im intrigued to know
Majong v Nintendo
Since my first console was a PS2 I have no nostalgia for Nintendo.
in my opinion their old stuff like Ocarina of Time or Super Mario 64 just doesn't compare to Jak and Daxter or Ratchet and Clank, (which are the games I grew up playing) and their new stuff is all just retreads of their old stuff. And do I even have to say the Wii sucks.

Majong V Namco Bandai
Okay you got me there I voted for Namco Bandai because I love the Tales series.
Namco Bandai was actually second place on my bracket

Majong V Epic Games
Sorry if I like a little depth in my games guys but Gears of War is just about as entertaining as watching grass grow, then mowing it so you can watch it grow again...

Majong V Obsidian
Fallout New Vegas is the worst sequel In existence
They took all the exploitative free roaming sandbox fun of Fallout 3 and smashed it into a linear buggy pile of slop where the guns don't work. Alpha Protocol wasn't very good either.

Majong V (Valve/Capcom)
No, Majong's going down here

What gave you the impression that I don't like Videogames?
I don't like bad videogames which is what Obsidian and Epic Games seem to pride them self in making. I nearly shit my pants when Team Ico lost to Epic and I'm not too thrilled about Naughty Dog loosing to Square Enix

Personally I'm hoping Bioware V Valve in the finals

Because minecraft is fun
Also, the reason they're doing so well is probably because he posted a message on his blog/twitter feed/main website/wherever, and A LOT of people have bought minecraft. Hence, a lot of people registered to vote here

I voted for them against nintendo because they haven't done anything good since the 64. I voted for Mojang when they went up against Namco because I have had a lot more fun playing minecraft than all their games combine. I didn't vote for either Mojang or Epic cuz i missed that poll. And lastly I didn't vote Obsidian because I thought New Vegas was a bugged out joke. And they sold it at full price. So while I love Minecraft, Mojang has yet to go up against a great developer.

And yes, I strongly believe that Nintendo is now a joke.

Because i've had more fun with Minecraft than almost anything to come out in the past 2 years. I only vote based on the past year or two because it's no fun voting for the the same dev every year.

Nintendo: I haven't liked one of their games enough to buy it since Wind Waker which came out 8 years ago, I think the rest of their library is meh?

Namco: I haven't liked a Namco game since the original Digimon World, for the PS1.

Epic: I like Minecraft more than any game in their library. Unreal Tournament is the only game they made that I didn't think sucked, and that came out a trillion years ago.

Obsidian: Fallout New Vegas is fun, but i've had more fun playing multiplayer in Minecraft. I at least considered voting for Obsidian.

Valve: I'll be voting for Minecraft, because I don't think Valve games are that great. CS: Source is the only Valve game I still play.

I was just rooting for the underdog in the beginning. It's all in good fun anyways, right? After that I honestly thought they should win. They're going down against Valve though!!

Somewhere in between "Hate the devs" and "didn't play any of their games". I've only played a few of the devs games, and didn't enjoy them too much(except FNV - it was great, but the bugs were INSANE), pretty much only:
Nintendo - a bit of mario on my friend's DS
Namco - Tekken 5/6 for PSP
Epic - probably some game made with their Engine
Obsidian - FNV
And I can safely say that I've spent at least twice as long playing Minecraft that I did all of the above combined.
When the voting comes to Mojang vs Valve, I'll vote Valve because I'v spent even more time in TF2, Portal, CS:S, L4D 1/2.

And admitted to not having strong feelings to minecraft itself. Its all in the wording.
To be perfectly frank I haven't played Minecraft and I doubt I will.

Not that I think it's not good.
I have more fun dicking around in Halo's Forge mode than actually playing Halo.
(I think Minecraft is comparable to that or Garry's mod, in a way? kinda? sorta?)

The kind of games I get invested in have stories that make me want to see them through to the end. I have the feeling Minecraft would leave me bored after a while with no relevant context for what I'm doing.

Mojang AB delivered a simplistic sleeper hit that I honestly thought I would only get a few weeks of play time with. 7 Months later I'm still playing Minecraft in some fashion every week. Logged a ridiculous amount of time playing with friends or simply in my own world, genuinely had fun and actually have unique monuments to show my time spent in-game. I really have never had an experience like that with a game, essentially able to play with digital LEGOs over the internet friends, making just about anything- and killing zombies at the same time. All for the 10Euro I paid getting in on the Alpha. It sounds cliche but this has been one of the best gaming deals ever for me.

Mojang really deserves all the praise and fortune they're getting off of this- not to mention recognition for what they've been able to accomplish in a year, or so- that entire Companies strive for in their entire history. Plus, Notch and the guys are from the Home Country, gotta respect.
