Indeed it is [http://objection.mrdictionary.net/go.php?n=3541148].
However, this may shock you more!

I'll start this with something easy.
Very well, if it's cutesy anime memes you want, it's cutesy anime memes you shall get! [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6wmbZ8s3w48]
I may give up early if it's a anime theme battle. Oh, I left a message for you.

Note*We'll end this battle here. I have to go to a friend's house to help with a homework. You can post another link and we'll let the others to judge who won.
Having been trapped in a realm of his own mind from a cuteness-induced diabetic coma, only to be awoken by the will of IBM, the man of random arguments imagined his fantasy, truly believing himself to have won the duel. As I write his pleasant dreams like a polite champion must, he imagined leaving Earth after his imaginary victory, for no raisin. [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t9IrDH74CTM]

They are more visible by posting everywhere all the time.

The post count is a status symbol:
The post count and title are what you always notice along with the nick and avatar. It is also a major part of appearance, just like avatars, maybe sometimes even more. Higher post counts do make an impression that the person is somewhat more "reliable" or veteran or something like that. It drastically reduces the chance of one being thought of as a troll or a purple llama that has wings and flies around chewing innocent kittens.

You don't get thousands of posts without even trying to be a one with a huge post count. That's just a fact. No-one is trying to keep theirs minimum, but some people just care and some don't care about what their post count is. Most of those people that do care certainly won't admit that.

Post count can be competitive. This is a gaming forum anyways. And basically, if you are here very often, gaining a large post count is just another thing to gain, to accomplish, to rejoice.

It's something some people can be proud of. If you've got, let's say 5000 posts, you have thought something along the lines of: "hey, that's pretty cool, fellow escapists will look at me differently now". That is just a part of being a human.

I don't like the fact that post counts can affect the way one is noticed. If the post counts weren't visible, I'd assume there would be some improvement in the content of posts and a somewhat noticeable decrease in the amount of posts overall.

I always find more wisdom in people who have been around longer but have fewer posts. Kind of like an old kung-fu master who only speaks the occasional proverb.

I dunno, maybe it's because people with high counts have usually been around the forum a while and know its ways?

I have a big post count and have yet to be in any way idolised for it, it's just an indication that I like this forum a lot, that's all.
Whats with the new avatar, is that Iggy Pop?
Nope, it's me! A friend took it a year ago.

Being a musician, I must retain an air of vanity at all times!
Muscician ey? That explains the lighting and the name I guess.

Is that a guitar neck I see, or do you play a different instrument?
Nope I think it's a microphone stand I think! Little bit of singing, guitar and piano.

I linked Furburt some of my stuff yesterday I'd be happy to do the same for ya if you like. It's heavy, heavy stuff though!

All it means is that they spend a lot of time on this site and post a ridiculous amount of meaningless dribble, often contributing little to nothing to the actual discussion. They aren't more important in anyway whatsoever; after all, it's just a number.
thanks, you basically took the words right out my head.

Well, people with larger post counts (gods among men) have, you guessed it, posted more. They're more well known, and well known people have alot of friends.

Lesser posters (me and others) are not, so they don't.
'Tis simple math, but I don't think people idolize them, they just have more exposure.

Not really. But when you have the largest post count of the entire forum (which amazingly I did once at a webcomic forum I've now left), two things people think of.

"Oh my god, he's got a HUGE number of post counts. It's like an internet cock and I wanna suck those numbers hard, HARD I tell ya, like a dirty whore of a calculator that always spells 8008135!"

And then:

"Oh my god, this guy has no fucking life."

And you know what, dear viewers?

They were right.

They are sad the ones with large post counts, they are sad sad people. No really I have 100 something posts and I have been here from 3rd of jun 2009. And some people who have been here less have 1000+ posts or 5000+ posts or more. What to they do all day long? Post? And seriously are all of those 5000+ posts relevent, I know not all of mine are. So that number shows really nothing.

Those bastards! /lame joke

OT: I'll admit it: When I first joined the Escapist, I felt that the thoughts of those with high post counts held more stock. Don't worry, I've already ravaged my body severely as punishment for such thoughts, but it's a common response when you are new to a forum. Those with higher post counts appear to be veterans of Forum X, and, as such, those new to the place usually take in as much information as they can; information in the form of those opinions provided by high frequency posters.

However, it is quickly learned that those who've been around the forum for a while aren't necessarily those with +10,000 posts. For instance, I've been a member of the Escapist for roughly a year and a half, and every day, I see people who've been members for all of a few weeks. These people frequently Go Gonzo.

What do you class as a "high Post Count" - Im known with a few Esc' Members, Mainly because of my twitter/skype presence, But thats about it.

I dont idolise Higher posters, and most of them amuse me.

I do sometimes miss Maxibon Though, Some of his sarcastic posts were brilliant.
