Poll: Why do people idolize users with large post counts?

Slightly off topic, why did max the reaper recieve a permanent ban? im just asking you Furburt becuse you seem to be a more in the know member of the escapist with all the avatar making and such.

He was generally flame baity, so he never was popular with the mods.

His final post which got him banned was on a thing about WoW, it was along the lines of

"Fuck you, you're not even a person, your opinion is completely and totally wrong.
Fuck off and die"

While I'm not saying that he didn't deserve some sort of punishment, I still miss him.

I personally have never been popular, nor idolized, but just because someone is popular doesn't mean that you should be offended. However, whenever said person that is popular posts in a topic and a large number of people have the need to start up a random conversation with them that is off topic, then yes, I have a problem with it.

Its also not the large post counts all the time either. I'd be surprised if anyone recognizes me and I don't have a very large post count, considering my amount of time here.
