No clue why. Maybe because people know them from other posts? I dunno, I never even read the names of posters, just the posts if I'm interested. The avatar images are a bit more eye catching so I pick up on those from time to time and would be more apt to recognize a user as "that guy with the retarded sonic running .gif as his icon" as opposed to the screenname.

I don't think it's really being idolized, more that when you have a large post count, you get called a "Nobel Laureate".

I've been noticing lately that users with large post counts have a large amount of friends and people that idolize them, and I was wondering if you people think that users with larger post counts deserve to be treated differantly to other users?

Also, I want you to tell me why you think people idolize these users.
I know exactly why you posted this. :p
Honestly, I could care less, most of the time it means they've been here longer or they waste more of their time replying to things here. I don't think people idolizing them is as bad as them acting like they are big shots or anything else. There is some site that used to be popular for Delta Force games, and I have a high post count there and a few people looked up to me, but then again, I was also staff at that site.

I could care less about friends or post counts on here, and even when I look at my post count it makes me sad with how high it is and makes me think I should be doing something else with my life. In reality, those people are no different than anyone else except for the fact that they spend more time here.

Meh, I don't frequent the forums nearly enough anymore to notice. I don't even know who Hubilub is.
[HEADING=1]YOU KNOW NOT OF THE MIGHTY HUBILUB?![/HEADING]

Fair enough.
Nope...Told ya I'm not here enough anymore! I just kinda surf through the thread titles and see if anything interests me if I ever get a chance...and lately, there hasn't been much of anything.

I believe you're referring to "Sheeple".

Buy the time you hit 10,000 pots, you know the community really well. You know what you're talking about. Finally, you're opinions are respected because of the effort you put into the community.

All it means is that they spend a lot of time on this site and post a ridiculous amount of meaningless dribble, often contributing little to nothing to the actual discussion.
Yep, this is pretty much me.
Damn good of you to admit it, sir.

AshPox, do you need a hug? I can be your friend, give you a hug, touch you inappropriately...
I don't think people are treated differently, really, as much as they are simply well-known because of the high post volume.

I miss MaxTheReaper. He amused me

I guess the reason people like them is because they've been around the site for a while. They're like the elders of The Escapist, wise and powerful.
EDIT: I voted no, by the way.

Anyone who thinks people with really high post counts is special in a good way is RETARDED.

Anyone who wonders if people with high post counts are considered special ARE A LITTLE BIT SPECIAL IN A BAD WAY.

Anyone with a high post count who thinks they are special because of it is even MORE SPECIAL THAN THOSE WHO FIT IN THE OTHER TWO CATEGORIES.

Congratulation to anyone who described in this post.
Yes, a straight jacket.
Yay! Do I win a prize?

Alpha male like system isn't it? Other species determine who is the best by horns, voice or smell, while we determine who is the best by their post count and the person with the highest post count instead of getting a mate gets people to suck up to him and talk about his avater.

I don't really even bother looking at post counts. I don't even know how many posts I have lol...guess I'll look after this post. But anyway, if I see a person post things that I like, then I try and remember their name...or use their avatar to remember who they are. Or add them to friends. I never judge anyone by post counts...a person with 1 post can make just as of a useful/entertaining thread/post as a person with say...10,000 posts.
