well people are definitely going to idolize people who post more because if they have a high amount of posts, then generally that means that they actually care about posting things meaningful, whereas... essentially stereotypically the person with lower posts could or could not just be someone whos bored and puts posts down that don't make any sense and/or insult people for no reason.
thanks! :)

Welcome to The Escapist by the way.

Have fun!

Anyone who thinks people with really high post counts is special in a good way is RETARDED.

Anyone who wonders if people with high post counts are considered special ARE A LITTLE BIT SPECIAL IN A BAD WAY.

Anyone with a high post count who thinks they are special because of it is even MORE SPECIAL THAN THOSE WHO FIT IN THE OTHER TWO CATEGORIES.

Congratulation to anyone who described in this post.

Here's a snippet of info I live by: A friend is just an enemy that doesn't have the guts to kill you.

At least this way you can rest assured that most of us assholes are just waiting to end you. Sleep tight sunshine.

Because we're great!

Nah, I'm just kidding.

I don't know really, but if people like us (yes, I count myself) then I'm not too bothered.

And to be honest, it is just a number.

I voted no, if anyone cares.
Slightly off topic, why did max the reaper recieve a permanent ban? im just asking you Furburt becuse you seem to be a more in the know member of the escapist with all the avatar making and such.

Do i detect some jealousy behind this thread? If your so desperate for friends, instead of creating this thread, go off and quote nice things about people, say nice things, be helpful to other escapists when they ask, and be reasonable. Then your list might grow.
I have plenty of friends, I just don't add them to my list because I don't see the point of the friends list, Because if you add to many people to your friends list then the people that you really like will get covered over by randoms.
Good point i guess... however, what happens if your friends with everyone. I have several people on my list whom i quote quite often, and others whom i do not. I also have two who i know in college (both from my class, and one is my fiance) and one is an old friend so i don't class them as my friends on the escapist only because i know them off the site also so that becomes slightly more confusing. One doesn't post anyway, she is here for the videos, the other is only here because i suggested the site to her and she liked it, we added eachother only because she might need a hand with things, or someone to be kicked if they pick on her (i love helping my mates). As for my beloved (yes Furburt he pops up into my posts again lol) he is on my list so that i can annoy him now and then and so that i can scrounge some help from him lol.
The rest of my friends are those whom share similar interests, and have helped me with things, or just generally said good stuff on their posts.

I think there is a difference between being idolized and being popular. Someone with a large number of posts, someone like say, MaxTheReaper (yes, I'm aware he was banned, but let's see how many of you still recognize the name), is well known because of all the comments he/she has made. While yes, people can be idolized, I do think some of the time it's because people are just more well known because they post so often, so naturally people will remember the name or avatar.
admittedly, if someone was to make a snarky reply to a post and you see they've only posted maybe 20 times, I find it tempting to address them as "paperboy" or whatever haha

idk, if I see someone posting huge amounts and remember them for having a wonderful and constructive community attitude then yes that is very memorable =)

don't worry my self esteem is low enough at his point that I don't even care if someone is plotting my death. all I have to do is get famous and addicted to heroine and I'll be just like Kurt Cobain...

It's not that they're idolized, they're just more well know than someone with a low post count. They are seen in a lot of threads, they're seen around the forums, and become somewhat of a star. Like seeing a movie actor, you may not like that actor, but you recognize them.
At any rate, I look for more quality than quantity. I'd rather see a good post than a huge post-count.

I don't idolise anyone here. I do recognise common namkes (and avatars), and it just so happens that I enjoy reading the posts of those with high-post counts (the high post count and the reading of their postts have nothing to do with eachother).

Also, My friend's list is like ... 6 people, I only add people who add me first, that way I only get added if someone has a reason for me to be on their list (that way I am less likely to become a faceless nobody).

Most of them post quite often. We see them and we recognize them.

Me? I've been here since May 2008 and only a few people knows me. However, back in the day, You were popular depending if you had only epic posts.

No one likes me...=(

I don't know, maybe people think they are just wiser the more time they spend here, or something.
