I dunno, maybe it's because people with high counts have usually been around the forum a while and know its ways?

I have a big post count and have yet to be in any way idolised for it, it's just an indication that I like this forum a lot, that's all.

The majority of them have been here longer I guess. They've earned some respect over that time.
You'd actually be surprised if you took the time and look at all of the posters with high numbers. I've been here longer than most currently active posters and just today have I gone past nine hundred. I think most of the time, it's a matter of access, intent, and attention.

People think I'm awesome regardless of my post count. Everywhere I turn one of you guys are begging for an autograph or a picture with their hero, it gets a bit old after a while...not buying it? *sigh* Didn't think so....

It's like complaints and complaments at a place of bussiness. You expect the service to be good so you never really mention it but you'll say something if it's broken/bad/offends you etc.

Though with a high post count your seen more consisantly so people can form opinions of them good or bad. (the bad usually getting banned leaving only the good around to talk about.)

Edit:

I voted No because you have a lot of posts so you're obviously smarter than me......wait.....I think I did something wrong here.
Heh, I couldn't stop laughing for a minute on that.

I've been noticing lately that users with large post counts have a large amount of friends and people that idolize them, and I was wondering if you people think that users with larger post counts deserve to be treated differantly to other users?

Also, I want you to tell me why you think people idolize these users.
I don't think People "Idolize" big posters necassarily, but because they contribute to the majority of the threads then everybody knows who they are, and then mentions them in their posts a fair bit (I've done so myself). However I'm not stunned in awe and adoration for Furburt for example (No Offence Furburt).
Did I make any sense there at all?

I don't particularly, I mean for example, I think I'm one of the few people glad to see the back of MaxTheReaper, who was immensely popular, for as far as I can tell, managing to post about 10000 times i under a year.

But I think its to do with, if you have a larger post count, you've clearly not put your foot in your mouth too much and have managed to stick around, showing you at least contribute half decent ideas.

It makes sense that a person that replies on every topic is more familiar and in a way more popular, but I've never seen any idolizing going on. In fact I don't even know said users by name.

No, they just tend to be more experienced in the forums.

Actually, they don't. I certainly don't idolise anyone here or care what anyone here thinks of me regardless of if they have one post or 20,000.

However if you post a lot you're more visible, which means that (at least in theory) people will get to know your name and feel a little more like they know you or something. That's probably the only reason for that perception.
i agree with this guy

I generally respect the opinion of people with higher post counts, because the higher amount of things you have said that hasn't lead to your being banned from this forum must mean a good thing. Wow that sentence sounds awkward.

I wouldn't say idolized.
More like stalked with an obsession. I mean, out of the guys and girls on my friends list, I only know about 10 of them and have regular contact with.

I always care.

To be honest, OP isn't seeing the general logic behind it; Certain users post around a lot, therefore more people see them and if they like their posts, add them. Or that they've been here a long time and as such have accumulated a large amount of friends and posts.
I like the hierarchy.

I've never seen them idolized, but one has to agree that a guy with witty posts in the thousands is a better poster than the guy posting random crap with horrible grammar that has posts in the teens.
