So let me get this straight... people that have problems with Bronies are trollish idiots?
Usually yes. Hating someone because they like a TV show is something I consider trollish behaviour, either that or they're just extremely ignorant and actually believe that judging people based on their choice in entertainment is entirely reasonable.

Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against people who hate specific bronies, but hating anyone who watches a certain TV show is ridiculous.
I hate outspoken Bronies that can't keep their interest in one place (which accounts for like 80% of them). Am I trollish idiot?
Well, for a start you're wrong, I am absolutely certain that that does not account for 80% of bronies.

But anyway, yes, you are a trollish idiot (or ignorant) if you use that made up statistic as an excuse to hate anyone who watches My Little Pony.

If you hate only the "outspoken Bronies that can't keep their interest in one place", then that's fair enough. If you hate all bronies, then yeah, idiot.
But everybody that puts themselves under the "Brony" banner are outspoken. If they were normal about their interest then they wouldn't have to consider themselves "bronies", they could just talk about the show and not flaunt it everywhere.

So yes, I hate all Bronies BUT I don't hate the fans.

I don't understand the obsession, nor has any fan adequately explained it to me.
I'll give it a go then.

Out of a lot of TV shows and music I listen to, MLP:FiM is one of the few that actually seems to give a shit. I see shows like Family Guy which has a massive following, but with the laziest, most boring animation, no effort in voice acting, and countless phone-ins when they run out of ideas or jokes, that I appreciate when something is actively trying to better itself. Lauren Faust (the exec producer) said she despised previous generations of the show and wanted to redo it and strive for something great. I see that enthusiasm in every episode and I appreciate the show for what it's trying to do. They could have created another mindless turd and siphoned toy money through it, but they didn't.

That's my reason for liking it mind you, not a reason why you should enjoy the show.
So its got soul? That isn't enough reason for it to have all this fan following and brainless chatter about it.

I just don't get it.
I wanted to embolden "'my' reason for liking it mind you" for this reason. I'm not obsessed about the show but I do really like it, and that's my main reason for it. As for everyone else, I couldn't say, especially the people who are truly obsessed. I think they got caught up in the fervor of the show and can't take a step back and watch the show from an objective standpoint. I'm with you on that at least.

Brony and fan of my little pony are synonymous so I really don't understand how you can hate one and not the other.

What don't you like about it? not much to go off of when you just say it's "mediocre", if you don't like it, it's fine, just curious.
Bland characters I cant relate to, with cliche/stereotypical personalities. Uninteresting storylines, weak jokes. Target audience are girls age 16 and below.
Only agree with the last one but it's cool.

I like Nintendo but I'm not a Nintendo fanboy. But of course, those two must be synonymous with eachother and, in turn, I'm a Nintendo fanboy.

I'll stop being a dick about it when the pony cultists stop flaunting their love in places where it doesn't belong. Seriously, THEY'RE the reason they're patronized so much, it's not really the people who are annoyed by the bronies that are causing problems. Why is it that they can act this way on the internet but we can't act like dicks?
Because being a dick is being a dick. At least on the Escapist, that's very much against the rules, and one can expect to be moderated for such behavior.

What harm are bronies causing in "Flaunting their love"? Where are they causing problems? They have a large presence, I'll give you that, but the worst they are doing is going, "Hey, I like this show. I am going to have my pony avatar and would like to discuss ponies if given the chance."

This is my problem with brony haters- there really isn't a good reason for them to hate, except that they chose to dislike the show. Usually for the "men shouldn't watch little girl shows" or "Its too mainstream" reasons.

Give me a good reason to hate My Little Pony, and a good example of bronies actually being harmful.
I never said I hated MLP, I never said that the Bronies were causing any harm. I just find the entire MLP fanbase to be the most annoying things in the world, and I'm pretty sure I'm not the only person that thinks that way. Are you seriously saying that there is nothing to hate with this fanbase? They are absolutely perfect? ........Okay
No, that is not what I am saying.
I am saying that I have yet to encounter anyone who actively hates My Little Pony for anything passing a legitimate reason.
I mean, Don't like sports? You had a bad childhood experience relating to football? Fine.
Don't like Dr. Phil because he promotes certain ideas you simply cannot agree with? OK.
Have a problem with the TF2 fanbase because you were continually banned for being a F2P player? Sure, I can see why you're mad.
But what have bronies done other than exist? I mean, really. I know they did cause some real bother on 4Chan or something, but in being relegated to ponychan, they seem to be in check.

If bronies DDoS'd your website, or something, than fine, there's plenty of reason to dislike bronies.Otherwise, I see as much incentive to hate on Dr. Who fans, Star Wars fans, or Pokemon players.

It just feels like people hating on bronies are actively looking for something to be mad about.

Why are you acting like you're part of some kind of oppressed minority? This is not a serious topic or indeed a problem. You like a children's television show. That's fine, I haven't seen it but I know some children's shows are designed to be enjoyed by many other people aswell. Stop acting so hurt when people take the piss; laugh at yourself a little. And drop this 'brony' shit, you're not part of some secret society, you're not affiliated with any kind of group, and you don't need to have any kind of solidarity or whatever between you. It's just a television show.
You just hit the nail on the Head.

Bravo my good sir!

Have a Internet high five.

So I can't dislike a fanbase unless they have caused some harm to me? I can't find somebody annoying unless they stab me with a knife?

I hate bronies because they ruined my life. I was born to a wealthy industrialist and had the perfect life, but all that changed when a Brony shot my parents as we left the cinema (having just seen Zorro), since then I have vowed to wage war on all bronies.

Kidding aside I don't hate bronies, I was surprised by bronies because I didn't think my little ponies would be something that males or adults would watch but I don't hate them. The whole brony thing has even made me watch it a couple of times on youtube to see what the fuss is about.

I don't like Dr. Phil because he tries to pass himself of as someone who actually knows something about psychology and contributes to the general belief that psychology is down to common sense rather as opposed to anything academic or scientific.

This is pure speculation on my part, the reason we have the hubbub around it is because it's not supposed to be worth watching. But not only is it tolerable, it's also downright entertaining.

loving community? that really rubs me the wrong way, how can an internet community for a cartoon be "loving". i'm sorry mate but you seem a teeny bit too embroiled to me.
Bronies actually support each other. They give advice, they facepalm when another brony does something stupid, they congratulate each other, and hell, the Escapist group for bronies actually gives personal happy birthdays and encourages individual members to send happy birthday messages to the bronies who have a birthday.
If that's not loving, I don't know what is. It may not be traditional love, but it seems like a family to me. I don't see them as family members, but I see them as good friends.

Don't hate anyone, some like beavers others like ponies but it is extremely creepy.
How creepy? Imagine a 40 year old man cheering on a Bieber concert... that man probably also has a van with lots of candy for the kids.

You want this to remain calm and mature when you start a thread with a title like this? This is just asking for it.
Pretty much this.
Also AVATAR TWINS!
*Squee!*

And if you hate someone because of ther opinion on a cartoon, you have much much bigger problems to deal with.

I don't have anything against fans of the show.

I'm not a fan myself, and I still, after umpteen threads, don't really understand where this craze suddenly came from, but I don't hate bronies. Enjoy what you want. Who cares?
