I read for entertainment. The best thing is when you get lost onside a book and can't put it down. It's like a reader's high. I love it.

who gets challeneged by reading?
Ever tried reading Naked Lunch? I tried to make sense of that for a while before deciding that the ramblings of a heroin addict weren't worth decyphering.

I always try and read for stimulation and challenge, but in the end I always realise I am not patient enough and read Fantasy instead.

It takes a few extra words to make a coherent sentence.
Just saying.
I can't tell if that was deliciously intended irony, or a blunder.

All the above, meng. I love reading - for all of the reasons available. Hell, it's the only reason I can do anything other than run, shoot, kill, spray-over-corpse, right? XD

All of the options, except the last one. There's another reason, though: I find that if I don't read, I have a lot of trouble writing. They must use the same parts of the brain, or some such mumbo-jumbo. It's also a good way to pick up new words, and then use new words and pass on new words, like some sort of lovely STD.

I read because I find it a good way to pass the time. I tend to read late at night, before sleeping. I can read almsot anything. Almost.

I read mostly for an escape and for entertainment, probably why I go for fantasy and scifi most of the time and occassionally go for mystery/thriller like say the Divinci Code once in a while.

I read for entertainment value; occasionally for intellectual stimulation but that's due mainly to my uni course...

Depends on what you mean by 'read' - if we're discussing books then it's purely for entertainment (barring the few examples of books I need to read for coursework and the like), but as a compulsive internet denizen I think "information addiction" about covers it, heh.
