Poll: Why does everyone seem to loathe Rebecca Black?

i don't hate her. I have never even met her. That said i hate the idol Rebecca black and her music. The lyrics aren't good, and it's too campy for me. The idol Rebecca Black is the same kind of idol That beiber fellow is. Completely mainstream that is made to appeal to the teen naive girl masses specifically for that purposes. If the medium had evolved enough into something new i would consider it but it's been the same type of music since the days of N'sync and the backstreet boys. even rock music has branched out and is even incorporating hiphop into it to evolve as a medium. i guess i'm saying is i want the campy teen music to evolve

I think she's pretty and she seems to be a nice person. Just because she performs music I don't like does not give me any grounds to dislike or hate her at all. Hating people because they do things you don't like is the very essence of bullying. I'd like to remind everyone of that, because I'm sure a lot of the people who go around loathing Rebecca Black have been bullied themselves.

It's called a 'vocal minority'. I dare say most people with any opinion of her dislike her, but it's a much smaller number that outright hate her. Thing is, these are the people most likely to proclaim their hate to the world.

Go to any of her YouTube video's and (with the exception of My Moment) they have almost a million or more "dislikes". I'd hardly call that a minority.

Because no-one can vote day after day or create multiple accounts just to express how much they hate her. It's not like Youtube is a part of the internet where you find a lot of petty people doing that kind of thing. Oh... wait... Using Youtube as a way to predict demographics or popularity is stupid. You might also notice that there are a lot of dislike rating on her song and dislike is not the same as hate. I don't like her music, but I don't hate her. Unless you suffer from bipolar disorder there isn't just high and low. There's also a difference between hating a song and hating a person.
The vocal minority are those who openly say they hate the person. Those who bully her in life or on the internet, not those who got different taste in music. You might even notice that on this site 23.5% (right now) voted that they hate her, that is a minority. This comes from a site where Rebecca Black threads popped up every 5th minute when Friday was new, so obviously almost no-one here likes the song. yet the minority hates the person.

OT: I don't know, I don't like Justin Beiber because he considers himself the next Kurt Cobain, despite the fact they're opposite ends of the spectrum. Rebecca seems more down to earth. I may not like her music but I don't know her.

Oh neat, can I give my oppinion on this talentless, obnoxious and thick wench without being torn apart by a bunch of wannabe moralizers? Good, because I think that is what she is. I don't give a damn if she is 14, if you think it's a great idea to perform a impossibly horribly song by abusing the poor, innocent auto-tune and bending its capabilities beyond the human imagination, THEN think is an even better idea to make a SECOND ONE, then you deserve to have your ass bust wide open by your "fanbase"..

I mean come on, 14 million dislikes on youtube for just one song should speak volumes, deactivting voting on the song issn't really helping there, that's like sticking your fingers to your ear, turn your back to the internet and sing and start yelling "I CAN'T HEAR YOU FRIDAY FRIDAY!" At least pack the decency to back away quietly instead of torturing th world with another performance like that.

So yes, I stand to my oppinion, being 14 years old is no excuse for such a row of "brilliant" ideas. If she wants o stand in the spotlight that badly instead of going to school, playing pokémon and dating boys of her age, then she better starts living with the dark, icky side of showbizz.

I think the answer is: Shes not very good at singing her songs aren't well written yet she has a lot of 'popularity' while other bands (older and younger) are still trying to get some sort of recognition.

So basically jealousy mixed with taking things too far.

I had never heard of this person before not surprising seeing as how I dont listen to the news or radio very much so I just did a quick google search and it dosent look like she is very popular but she sure is gaining a load of publicity from this hate for example I now am aware of her existence due to this thread.
While I dont plan on listening to her song(s?)cant say I hate her or like her but maybe the haters should stop that way she gets less publicity and notoriety meaning shes more likely to go away while she hopefully becomes happier and can go about without being mocked and bullied.
