Poll: Why Facebook?

I use it once a year to post a funny pic or quote to brighten up the lives of my miserable friends who's life somehow revolves around the site ;D

Other than that... bleh. We'd be better off without it.

I for one like Facebook, nothing groundbreaking or anything, but sometimes it's fun to have and it is more then practical.

I was joking mostly ;D

None of my actual friends use that site anymore than i do, there's just the bunch that i've only ever met once that dedicate their lives to the site.

Yes, i use it to see what people have been up to the last weeks/days, not more, and I do not play games there, actually, I have never tried a facebook-game, if I want to play games, I'll go home and play TF2.

Almost all of my friends and a large chunk of my family are on Facebook so it's the best way to keep up with them.

I try not to use facebook, since a decade worth of ex girlfriends can now "connect" and "poke" me.

Its a stressful time for me to use these social type sites, especially when I had two ex's stake claim to me on "my wall".

Yeah I'm not a big fan of that part either.

OTOH, social networking allows you to watch your EX's fail at life in real time, if you're amused by that. Perhaps I'm just a bad person.

Because one friend has an account there, tells their friend, that friend tells their friend, and soon almost everyone has an account there. That's the only reason I have one, because almost all of my friends have one. It's like a chain-letter.

Yes, I use it. I go out often and theres always pictures that get uploaded by someone, it's always nice to see those pictures uploaded of your good times with friends.
I have used it to reconnect with people I haven't spoken with for 10 years.
I do not use the awful games on there, it's purely a social thing for me.

Why?

I have windows Messneger and Skype. Why would i need a crappier version of either of these programs.

Honestly? A lot of my friends use it, it's an easy way to keep in touch with friends and family. And it's simple to use. I don't really get the facebook "hatin'". Social networking is simply a way to talk to people without using the phone or meeting them face to face.

Exactly, especially when you can't meet them face to face or talk on the phone. A lot of my friends are back home in Texas. Also, my long distance is expensive, so keeping in touch via Facebook is the easiest solution.

Besides it's pretty clean-while-still-good-looking. I think other people go on it more often for the apps. Besides it's easy to use and connect with other things such as email and blackberry.

It's popular and in its popularity it attracts more people.

I started using it because my sister made me make one when she went off to college. Now, well, mostly to keep up with my friends. Myspace seemed to be more about music, and back when I made my facebook, it had a lot more privacy than myspace. From what I heard about twitter, it is just facebook minus everything but statuses.

If that's the case sure, why would you use it if you feel that you have no use for it?

It's just that many FB haters won't accept that maybe I can have use for it even if they can't.

But really, I guess that could be said about anything.

I work for a fairly large international company and it's a great tool for staying in contact with people and networking. If I bump into someone at a business function or party and we're chatting I can add them on facebook and continue talking to them thus creating solid trans-atlantic relations should I ever need something from them or them from me.

It's also nice for keeping in contact with friends who scattered to the winds after school and college.
