<spoiler=Again>Well, I guess it's more of a yes and no.

You do kill him, via an assassination quick-kill. However, at the time both Ezio and the Pope (Borgia) possess a Piece of Eden. The Pope is immediately resurrected via his Piece of Eden, the Papal Staff, at which point stage one of the final boss fight begins.

Stage two of the fight leads you downstairs where Ezio and Borgia have one last fight, this time unarmed. At the end of the fistfight, Ezio tells Borgia he will not kill him, and Borgia is left alive.

So yes, you kill him the first time, but he resurrects, and no, you allow him to live the second time.

Urm... yes it did. It's the final freaking mission! But he didn't do it for religious reasons, he did it to gain acess to the vault.
He still didn't die, so it doesn't really count as as an assassination.

What a delightfully lol-tastic word you used there! I get the message, but what does it actually mean?
Flabbergasted means to be "in shock of amazement". I enjoy using it because I picture a large man so amazed by what he had experienced, that the only logical solution to his problem is shake his large cheeks, and go "Bbbbbbbbbb". This is probably due to the fact that the word "flabber" is right in the beginning, and flabber is a funny word...er...prefix.

I don't think he resurrected, he was healed before he died.

It's only as bad as you make it to be. You can just go through the whole level without shooting your gun, not kill anyone and just watch the slaughter. It was made for the player to hate the terrorists on a personal level, however i also do think that it was created to get more media attention then god.

Both of them are true, we all know it.

Plus you can, you know, skip the damned mission and the game warns you twice that its disturbing content.
How on Earth did you manage that? I tried doing that (out of curiousity) and they called me a coward, then killed me.
Oh, um, i kinda just assumed that you shot back when bullets started flying at you, okay, you have to kill the police to get throught the mission, but you don't have to kill the civi's. Sorry bought not thinking about that. I'll edit it out.
I shot the cops, but when I wouldn't shoot any civillians, I was called a coward. Also what ticks me off, is the way that level ends. You could die like maybe a few metres away from the van and you have to restart the level, but if you reach the van the plot progresses and you can continue the game. Does the few metres really matter?
The outcomes remains the same.
I don't know why you got shot, maybe im just arbitraraly special or something because on my second playthrough i tried not killing anyone and they didnt kill me. Maybe it was some random patch or something.

But yeah the ending kinda annoyed me to, you kinda knew that it was a suicide mission, you'd think that while your guys are buissy killing everyone you could just shoot them all in the back, or kamakazi them with a live grenade. It would solve all the worlds problems and save hundreds of civi's.

but it was an attempted assassination. What the guy's getting at is no-one cared about that scene because no-one had played the ending for ACII whereas "No Russian" was platered in every single game magazine for "controversy" and negative publicity (which to Robert Kotick is still publicity).

It was really ham-fisted and was clearly in the game for no reason other than shock value, since causing an outrage grants you more publicity for less effort than actually making the game good.

I couldn't even use a grenade. Every time I tried to use one on the cops, my "friends" would get hit and then call me a traitor before capping me in the head.

Well you could just, you know, go back to the first mission and practice your aiming skills with the grenade. Just kidding.

Yeah that happend to me a few times, damned random carts and metal railings sticking out of no-where that somehow automatical bounce back at said "friends"

It's not horrifying, but it is definitely unsettling, which I think is what was intended. The reason for a good chunk of the hate is, well...

People are currently mad at Infinity Ward, and this level is an easy target.

I remember the announcement News Room post a while ago. The responses were very different then, before, say, the lack of dedicated servers were announced.

Yarr, "prefix". I shall remember this word for future flabbering.
Use this power wisely.

Why is war bad? It's just a bunch of molecules thumping up against each other.
Isn't that what everything is though? I suppose nothing is bad then and you can go upon your merry way doing whatever you want. Reach for the stars!

When I started shooting the civilians, I wasn't really shocked or disgusted by the situation, just kinda confused. "Why am I walking so slow? ...Ok, I'm shooting at people now. This isn't all that fun, but whatever..." I wasn't really paying attention to the story that much, so yeah

It's ridiculously gratuitous and has little importance to the plot, in the end. It's clear that Infinity Ward shoved it in there purely to generate controversy and publicity. That's why it's so offensive. It's all about context.

I'm not sure if you were too stupid to understand the story
(infiltrating the terrorist group to get to Markov, but it goes wrong and Markov uses you to ignite a war between the U.S. and Russia)
or if you're simply reverse fanboys. Clarification please?

And before you start spouting 'fanboy,' check the IW forums for CAW4WAC, I ended up getting banned because I pissed of the cowardly little trolls that referred to themselves as mods by insulting IW too much.
