You see, in my own opinion, 99% of all posts (the 1% being my and a few other posts) are shit, they need to be exterminated and thrown into a black hole where they will be erased from existence.
So far I've reported every single post in this thread, why? Well the short ones lack content, the long ones are to pretentious, and basically, everything sucks.
OK, of course I'm joking (except about the report part, but that was just because), but as for the whole issue of when we should report something, I'd say when people will get offended. When I say offended though, I don't mean perturbed or irritated, I mean full on 'them nig nogs should get back to Niggerland' pissed off, actually, that was a bad example, it was too extreme, what I really mean is things that purposely insult people, but that doesn't included just challenging them. Hence, a thread that asks Atheists to defend their position, while being incredible unoriginal isn't a bad thing unless it goes on to say 'All Atheists are idiots'.
At lest that's what I think.
EDIT: Just to clarify something, like I said I don't think I'm easily offended, if people don't like me then I get over it almost instantaneously, but reason I report posts that I know will offend people is out of courtesy for them.
On the subject of the thread linked in the OP, I would of reported it simply because you asked me not to, however, had I seen it before hand then I think I would of just posted 'Can't I have both?' and then reported it, because people obviously were offended and as I mentioned I only report for the benefit of others, normally, and then I would of just left.

It was a legit question, I guess. But if the majority of people found it disgusting, chances are it had no place on this forum in the first place.

I'll take this one. When articles like that are made, they usually have to do with games. Cause this is a games magazine. And the writers at least use some discretion. The thread that the OP pointed out was just wrong and disgusting. It may have been funny for some, but there were probably more people who were disgusted by it. In the articles they served a point to make, the thread had no real meaning besides disgusting people. Cause that's what it did. And I think the number of reports agree with me. Even though everything's not written in black white (although most is), some rules are implied, people should get that.Cheeze_Pavilion said:

On top of that, I don't know exactly when people should be reported. I know the big reasons, like racism, porn-links etc, but what if a person triple-posts? If it is not an accident, but three posts by the same person with different quotes and answers in them, should that be reported? Or should you just tell the person to use the edit button?
I think most people just let the small things slide, and if someone makes a thread or a post with content that is against the rules, someone more active on the forum have already reported it. That's the way I see it.
And I am glad people report things on this forum. It is the best gaming forum I have visited, due to the level of intelligent users. The laughs I get here are of the "man, that was clever!" way, instead of the "can you believe this idiot?" way. And I think that is a good thing. Right? >_>

It's mainly got to do with social etiquette, if many people get offended by it, of course its going to be removed or censored. Would you walk up to a random person in the street and ask them that same question from aforementioned thread?
And to whoever said that there is a hierarchy, yes the mods have more power, but they are there to help. Anyway, if a mod abused their power they would get crucified anyway.
