Convert or don't convert, it's really up to you. But I suggest you do plenty of research to make sure you know exactly what you're doing, don't just convert on impulse
I have several Muslim friends (one from Pakistan, one from Turkey, and another from Iran), and it really depends where they come from. In countries that practice fundamentalist Islamic law, women are just about as worthless as dirt. In former Taliban controlled Afghanistan a woman could be stoned for being the victim of a rape because it is assumed that they did something to deserve it (like show some skin where they shouldn't). Women are forced to cover every inch of their bodies lest they again be lashed and/or stoned for trying to seduce men around them. Women are not allowed to be eucated and usually spend most of their days at home with children and venture outside the home as little as possible.lenin_117 said:

why on Earth are you asking a mostly atheist internet community whether you should convert to one of the most controversial religions at the time? Are you just looking for views and replies? It saddens me that you are that affected by peer pressure by your friends, and need people online to give their opinion.

Ok, this shouldn't be a question to be asking the random forumites at the escapist. Converting to a religion, no matter which one, should be a matter of faith. It's not like acquiring a new tattoo or a piercing. If Islam speaks to you, it makes sense to you, and it gives you a sense of connectedness to something that you truly believe to be bigger then yourself, then yeah, sign up.
