Video podcasts and full-content RSS feeds: Don't use them, and I don't even know what RSS is. (I'm not good with technology stuff.)
Exclusive member content: Perhaps.
A custom title of your choice: Sweet.
Early access to upcoming site features: Another maybe. I'm not really sure how beneficial this is, considering I usually get on here fairly late.
Ad-free viewing of the website: It would be nice, but I don't mind ads much.
Automatic contest entries: Again, this might be cool, but I might be confused if I actually won something and have no idea what or why I won.
Exclusive member forum access: This might be interesting.
Audience panel membership: I'm not sure what exactly this is, as I don't follow along on many things, but it sounds impressive.
Final tally, 1 yes, 6 maybes, 2 nos. If I'm tempted, I'll find someone else who did buy it and ask if it's worth it.

No I am not buying it. However I am not leaving unless The Escapist becomes riddled with annoying commercials and popups like for example IGN.
While The Escapist undoubtedly is the best gaming site I've been on, other sites provide the same services for free.
Also, The Escapist doesnt really offer me anything I cant do for myself. Mostly the articles are someones personal opinion about something gaming scene related. I am more than confident enough to form my own opinions about stuff and be happy with that. Granted the articles are usually very good and it is sometimes fun to get someone elses take, but it is in no way something I cant live without.

But I'm still of the opinion, that it may create a divide in the escapist. I'll probably join it... But it'll still be against it.
While I feel that people won't consider thenselves better than the others, the non-paying people may be excluded in those 'Member-only forums', and therefore often not becoming friends with the paying community. And the Community here is my favourite aspect of the site.
I don't mind paying for the escapist, but I don't want to split the chat on the forums. I don't mind splitting the video content or competitions and quizes... those are for fun and theres very little social interaction, but the Forums are really where its at...
So in short... I will DEFINETLY join if they get rid of the 'member only forums', but otherwise I'm on the fence about it.
P.S. I see that its already possible to become a Premium member, but are any of the features available yet?
I get the distinct impression that this site equates ad-blockers as being on a par with piracy. I don't use them as I can't be bothered and as said in a previous post they're actually rather funny in being completely innapropriate on a gaming site.

There are literally tens of thousands of forums on the internet I can join for free. Paying for a forum membership is not something I think I could do and still live with myself.
