look, i love the escapist, but the extra features arent really an incentive for me. and if they cut out current features (zero punctuation and ENN namely) i would not visit this site. I like what they are doing though, maybe i will support them in the future. but if they start spamming non-subscribers with ads im out of here.

No, I won't become a member. Frankly I don't like the idea, I'm not leaving (yet) but I don't want this to go any further... just so you know.

Nope, I don't need any of it. I do hope no one leaves because of this though, as 9 people have so far voted in the poll..

We work for an Internet company that's primarily at the mercy of venture capitalists. A new, potentially huge source of income that could actually make the website consistently turn a profit effects our entire life, and the ability to keep doing what we love to do. The Tech team has been working on various premium features (like the HD videos) for months now, our marketing department is tearing up phones to try and see what other deals they can pack in.

Yes, we're very interested in this being successful. ;)

P.S. I've been pushing (and annoying my bosses) for some sort of premium membership since we added forums to the Escapist. I'm very excited that it's finally happening.

I really want to, but that's if there is a "Pay by phone"-option, since I don't have any access to a credit card or PayPal.. :(
But I will buy it, some day..

Is this even a question? The Escapist is a fine ezine without any "extra" features. Why would I pay for virtually cosmetic differences?

P.S. You at the Escapist are awesome!

I might...

If I ever get a credit card. And I can't use my parents' one, because they don't have one either.

So I might join in a few years. Maybe. Until then, I'm gonna have to sit out of this party.

My post was a little more sarcastic than was totally necessary. I'm actually pleased that you're taking the time to see how people have reacted to this.

I already am a member. It's a good deal for me. I spend a lot of time on here and I have no trouble supporting a web magazine I enjoy reading.

Hell, I send coffee money to the guy who does The Oatmeal and all he does is a webcomic. I suppose this comes from having three siblings who are artists. I consider this website to be a kind of creative venture. I support that kind of thing whenever I can.

Yup. Most of the features don't matter to me though. But I do appreciate The Escapist. Both as a website and as a source of entertainment.

I'd say that's worth ten bucks, or ?7.36 as is my case.

PS/Hint
Although I would really appreciate a feature that would have the top four badges be the most recent ones :p

Maybe. It's about £6 for me, and then £10 - £20 depending, and for a year, it's cheaper than my deviantArt subscription.

But I would love to help a great site become better. As long as it stays great.

I understand the concept, i'm glad you're doing it, and I hope you get success with it and keep doing what you do here, because it's a great source of entertainment for me.
Whilst I lack funds now, I shall endeavour to join sometime in the future.

Not now anyway.

The ads don't bother me, and I don't want a "hey I'm awesome" type of title.

plus I don't really need the rest of the stuff it offers.
