Used console games are a bloody ripoff at most places.
Then you should be using Amazon.com and Ebay like everyone, instead.

Buying in bulk, I've paid less than $1 a piece for some games.
You are as bad as a pirate then. HAHAHA I love this! The community that hates pirates comes to defend its lovely habit of used games purchases. Bunch of hypocrites.

Uh, yeah?

I don't buy used games because they are a huge rip off. Since off a £40 game the retailer takes about half, when I then see a used game being sold for £40, just because it's a new game, I know that the retailer is charging me twice what they would normally earn, which is just a rip off.

So yeah, since I only buy either over XBox Live or new games. This would never be a deal breaker.

Oh, and your poll is very confusing, you need to make it clearer which option is in support and which against.

I find it more of a deal sealer, the deal being that im not buying it, that is.

Now i can only hope the PS4 wont simply bankrupt me.

Mass effect ends in March.
That stopped being an Xbox exclusive a year ago when ME2 was polished up from its 360 version and released on the PS3.

I can not see how people think this rumour has any weight. As it would cost microsoft to build something in there console to make people stop buying their console.Console makers make losses on their consoles in the first two years this would make those losses even worse.

So why would they put something in the console too half the sales as this would just make new game prices explode to cover even more losses

I hope to god this is the way it is. Just so everyone I know can flip their shit. (Little backstory. Friends have only Xbox, Xbox360. And are excited about the 720. They constantly mock me for not buying into the "GRAPHICS ARE ALL THAT MATTER AND THAT'S WHY XBOX PWNS ALL!" hype and owning and enjoying all three systems.) It would be immensely satisfying not being mocked everytime the subject of games come up. (I'm not exaggerating on them. They are also complete assholes and INCREDIBLY racist. I only hang out with them because everyone else I know IS A WHOLE LOT WORSE.)

No. A pirate obtains a copied version illegally, a used buyer obtains a used copy legally. The two aren't even remotely comparable.

Yeah, it's a bit confusing, I'll concede that the poll was poorly set up.

The question the answers refer to is the actual poll question, not the title of the topic, but I should have just copy/pasted the topic title and had the answers be in regard to that. Live and learn.

No. I only buy new games when they are ones I want like ME3. Other I either rent or buy used, mostly because im not buying a £40 game that I will complete in 8 hours....especially as i cant sell it off if it turns out to be crap or that i have completed in a day.

Personally (and I'd have to hape that out of 3 pages of comments someone has already brought up this point) I think there's no way such rumors can be true as it would be a horrible business move if they did. It just doesn't make any sense whatsoever. For starters it would be a huge blow to the game rental business as you would no longer be able to rent XBox games. Secondly I think because of that very fact many people would rather buy a different console and tell XBox to go fuck itself.

So yeah, that said, if the rumors do turn out to be true, I sure as hell won't be buying it.

what's the no option? you might want to start a new survey with a "yes" "no" and "maybe" option so people can clearly show that they want to play used games.

if it blocks used games, i'm never buying an xbox again. i don't want to have to pay full price for games, and that's why i often buy used games when i can, IT SAVES MONEYZ. plus, i can trade in old games at gamestop for in store credit, so if this new xbox won't play used games, where will i get my in store credit from?

I didn't buy the 360 because it wouldn't backplay all my xbox 1 games.

It's not hard to see where I fall in this matter.

I'm normally not one to declare a boycott, but if this rumour is true I won't be buying the next Xbox, ever. Over half my game collection is made up of used games.

TBH I want to say it would be a deal breaker, but if the next xbox really does do this the only real thing it does it make the console more like a PC. At this point most of the games I want to play are multi-platform, and I can plug a controller into my computer so why bother with the xbox at all? Lets put it this way, if there is an exclusive game, or series of games, that makes the next xbox worth the 4 to 5 c notes its going to cost to buy it then I will probably wind up getting it. Otherwise I will just stick with my PC.

Hell yes that would be a deal breaker.

What about when the thing will overheat, and I need to get a new one?

It'd be a point of principle if i didn't, I tend to buy my games new anyway.
I cant see how it would work, theres no way the console can magically tell if the disk is used without a net connection and if they did get it to work, what are they going to say?
"Sorry it appears you have brought this game legally of another person, preparing disk-destruct sequence"?

Its also worth noting that microsoft said that the rumors regarding the xbox 720 are "silly"

I also would have to see the competition first, if sony
-Priced it reasonably at launch

-Changed the way the ps3 needed to be coded by making it much closer to the xbox and pc architecture

-Changed the controller by making it bigger and more comfortable (more like the 360 tbh :/ )

-Made the online experience better

-Made it so the damn thing can play music while a game is running

Then I might swich to them
