I game, therfore I am.

So no, I shall not grow out of it. I've been playing since I was 2. That's a little too long to be called a "phase".

I haven't "outgrown" games yet, although I don't get to play them as much as I used to now that life has rudely interrupted my gaming schedule. I still enjoy them, it's just I don't buy as many games nowadays, and so have to be a little more selective.

It's why I'm hoping Arkham Asylum is teh roxxor.

I probably will eventually. I outgrew wrestling, rap music and anime, so I don't see why I won't outgrow video games. It depends on which direction video games go in, I guess. When I have less time to play games, I'll probably just buy and play less games, which means more time spent on games I really like. That might keep me into games for a while.

Yep I don't play video games unless it's at someones house. It's just too much of a pointless endeavor. Not to mention all games since COD4 online have been borefest.

I will never outgrow games but I fear that I will lose the ability to play them as my life gets busier and games are getting longer

No. I will always have some void of free time that needs to be filled with explosions, aliens and sexually ambiguous Japanese teenagers.

Of course I can't say for sure; But probably no. I was told: "when you get older you'll understand why real life is more fun". But I never did. As time goes by I see less and less reason to stop playing. Real life is pretty damn predictable and boring. Until someone presents the true meaning of life to me it will remain my understanding that we have no idea what the meaning of this shit is, and all we can do is to enjoy ourselves. For me, that's games.
Real life is pretty dan predictable and boring??!?!?!?!!? If you stay in your bedroom playing games ofcourse it is, you just got to do stuff, just fly to china for a week and see what happens, go skiing/snowboarding in the alps, what have you tried doing so far??

Oh and I will probably quit completely when I get to college, anyone who wants to get a good job hasent got time to play games during college.
I can only speak for myself and so should you. I don't like how you assume I spend my entire days in my bedroom and that it is the reason I find life boring. Of course things would be predictable if that were the case, but it's not. I just find life boring, because I find it predictable. I do spontaneous things like leave the country for a few weeks (I moved to Holland two months ago, worked and now I'm moving back) every now and then, but I seldom repeat the process because it's becoming boring.

Heres the thing, I stopped liking some games already, but others still hold appeal, so I figure eventually I'll probably "outgrow" them, but I have no idea when.

Never. Video games are my passion and I don't consider them some childhood trivial item like dolls or coloring books. I will be sitting in my rocking chair as arthritis gets the best of me, playing Final Fantasy XXXIX til I croak.

No, no it is not. That's like saying collecting little toys from vending machines is a life style.

No way. I have waaay too much fun with them now, and plan in the future to have a job with lots of holidays and no children. I'll pretty much need games to stop myself from going insane.

[small] Wow, I sound like an addict. [/small]

Will games ever be reduced to nothing more than unimaginative, brown, gritty and boring cash-ins?

If yes, I will outgrow them when all games become like that.
If no, I will continue playing games as long as I can afford them.

judging by your 14 posts i would like to say welcome, you are obviously new to the escapist. on that note, you are posting on the escapist so comparing video games to vending machine toys is probly not the best idea. also, yes gaming is a lifestyle.
