Poll: Will you play Mass Effect 4?

So I'm just curious in general if the escapist has any intention to play Mass Effect 4?

No, I'm not trying to start any form of argument, I'm just legitimately curious as to whether the Escapist will be giving ME4 a chance or not.

If you are or aren't, why or why not?

Personally I don't plan on it, IMO they sort of skull fucked the whole series with three; though I can get why some people might wanna still play it.

You may not be trying to start one, but I'll be damn surprised if you don't get one.

OT: Most likely, yes. It depends on what they do with it and when they set it. But I seem to be something of an oddity in the gaming community, in that I don't get very hung up on the canon of most games and thus don't let it impact my perceptions. So long as the game is fun to play and keeps me interested, the writers can do whatever the hell they want with the story.

Maybe I'm just suffering from Stockholm Syndrome though. I liked Mass Effect enough that I never was mad at it; Assassin's Creed III, on the other hand, I felt was magnitudes worse than Mass Effect 3 and completely overshadowed by it (and partly by the fact that a lot of people seemingly didn't care enough to play through to the end of ACIII in the first place, but still, that ending was just stupid).

Nah, I lost interest after ME2.

I'll probably just end up playing Dead Space 4 instead since that franchise seems to have the same story

I don't have any plans to. To me, Mass Effect just doesn't seem like it can expand enough to interest me anymore. Though the presentation of the ending in ME3 could have been vastly improved, it still brought closure to the series, and I just don't have any further interest in it. At this point, it just seems like them using the universe as an easy way to make money.

Of course, I might be wrong and they still have a lot of good stories to tell in the Mass Effect universe. If this seems to be the general consensus among people I know who are also into the series, then I'll pick it up.

I hope it's not very connected to the original games because I think we've seen enough of all of those characters, but I'd love to see more of the universe. I also enjoyed ME3, so I'm obviously still happier with the franchise than people who hated it.

I don't see why not. For the most part, I had a hell of a lot of fun with the series so far, so more of that would be good.

The Mass Effect trilogy are the 3 games that got me to play my Xbox 360 more than any other games I own on it. I can't not play 4.

I admit 2 & 3 were kind of a piss take when it came to the amount of DLC required to fit all of the pieces of the story together, but damn it I had fun!

I'll wait for a few weeks of user reviews. If they're positive about things I think I'd like, then I'll give it a chance. I hated the ending of ME3, but I'm still willing to consider the possibility that the next game might be good. I'm just not going to assume that it will be.

I don't see how anyone can make a call to play it or not yet, seeing as there is pretty much no information on it yet.
I really enjoyed the first three and the universe they are set in, so I'll be following ME4 development closely!

Yeah, I will more than likely end up buying it as I genuinely liked Mass Effect 3 and seem to be the only person on the planet who didn't find the ending controller snappingly bad. If Mass Effect 4 is crap, then I won't bother with the next game.

Almost certainly. I won't pre-order it, because that way lies madness. So if it turns out to be complete semen then I'll pass. Otherwise, yes.
